Hello and welcome back to our blog! We thought that we would give you an update on our trip to Beamish the other day and show you some of the pictures from a fantastic day out!
We set off down the A1 and got to Beamish at about 10:45, which was perfect timing to walk down to Santa’s grotto and say hello to some of his Reindeers. We then walked through (cutting through a rather large queue) and then went to see the big man himself! Santa was full of chat and was absolutely brilliant with the children. He talked to them all about what they were doing for Christmas and what they wanted off him, he accepted that he was going to have his work cut out for him this year.
After leaving Santa we went back out to see the reindeers who were even more delighted to see us as Santa gave us a big bag of reindeer food, which is like a mix between seaweed, moss and sawdust (as you can see I don’t know what it was we fed them).
We then headed down to the pit village where we had a little wonder around the school and then headed for a spot of lunch in a lovely room with a roaring fire.
In the afternoon we headed down to the old town on an old yellow bus! I must stress at this point that Mark was such a brave boy as he plucked up his courage to go on the bus after being a little bit afraid of all the old buses and trams moving around the place. In town we of course visited everyone’s favourite regional sweet shop and bought some goodies to take home.
After a short stay it was time to go. Unfortunately it took ages for the yellow bus to return, we needed this because it is wheelchair accessible. This resulted in us being very late and we only returned to school at 3:15 which was a bit frantic for the grownups!
What a day we had and we are so proud of our beautiful children who were an absolute joy to take out! Happy days!
Thanks for reading!
