COMMUNITY EVENTS

Growing Together is a free family ESOL and wellbeing programme where parents, carers and children can learn, grow and connect together in our beautiful Lead by Example Wellbeing Garden.

The programme has been designed to help families improve their English, build confidence, make new friendships and enjoy spending time outdoors together through fun, practical activities.

During our visits to local schools, many of you told us how difficult it can be for families to access affordable activities during the summer holidays, particularly those who may feel isolated or face additional barriers. We hope Growing Together provides a welcoming space where families can learn, make new friends, build confidence and enjoy quality time together in a safe outdoor environment.

While the programme is open to all Newcastle residents, it has been specifically developed to support families seeking sanctuary, those who are new to life in the UK, and families who may find it difficult to access traditional ESOL provision because of childcare, confidence or other barriers.

During the programme families will enjoy:

  • Improving English through conversation and everyday activities
  • Gardening and growing herbs, flowers and vegetables together
  • Sharing recipes, exploring healthy eating and using home-grown ingredients
  • Nature activities, crafts and outdoor learning for children
  • Building confidence, making new friends and spending time outdoors
  • Finding out about future opportunities including ESOL, volunteering and employment

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We really appreciate your help in reaching families who could benefit from this opportunity, and we hope to welcome some of your families to the garden this summer.
