A splashing week.

20th January 2023Elaine Quinn

On Monday we had a lovely sensory carousel in the afternoon, we had multiple activities to help us work on our fine motor skills. we played with bath jelly with lots of little fish in which we had to use our pincher grips to fish them out, we also had multiple games to play. After doing all this we had a lovely meditation session to help relax us ready for snack.

We had a very busy Tuesday, in the morning we had a surprise hydro session which we did in two groups. We took turns in the pool so those that remained in class played with our doctor and nurse outfits and toys. In the afternoon we had our food tech lesson where we made fish cakes to keep on theme with our Great Barrier Reef topic.

On Wednesday morning we done a 1 mile walk in our classroom, we had lots of different movements to copy, after we had finished doing all of this we had a relaxing yoga session just before lunch. In the afternoon we made turtles with different shapes and paper plates. we then added them to our  class room aquarium.

Thursday was our most exciting day of the week as it was our trip to the Tynemouth aquarium, we had lots of fun looking at all of the different under water creatures and animals. We all got the opportunity to touch some of the animals such as a star fish. We watched a fantastic sea lion show just after we had our dinner. Then we ended our fantastic trip with the under water tunnel filled with types of fish, and there were even some sharks.

Friday was the day we celebrated Chinese new year we sang songs and ate noodles and rice in assembly ,we were also given a fortune cookie. After assembly we made Chinese lanterns with card and glitter. After lunch we made bird feeders to hang on the trees. Later on we had a movie with pop corn.
