What a wonderful week we have had! We have really been enjoying our autumn sensory story, using our hands to explore lots of different textures and smelling some freshly cut apples and spicy playdough. We have been lucky enough to sneak in some extra massage and rebound sessions along side our normal timetable. Intensive Interaction happens all day and every day and this brings so much more in the way of communication. We have also done some excellent standing managing to use our frames every day so lots of strong legs! Making relationships with the adults and our friends is very important to us so we like to have as much time as possible sharing our experiences in school we even have help from some of our older friends with this. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
What a busy week we have had. Not only have we been working hard during rebound therapy, hydrotherapy and sensory exploration we had an extra special visit from our friends at West Denton Fire Station. A fire engine came to visit and we got to sit inside, listen to the sirens and feel the water hose splash off the ground.
In messy art this week we designed poppy’s for our Remembrance Assembly. We listened to the music and had 1:1 with staff where we enjoyed lots of cuddles. We have also been exploring space and used this opportunity to make planets using coloured paper and glue. What a mess we got into but what amazing fun we had.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
June and Team 🙂
Wow what an amazing time we have been having on a Friday morning working with Timberdash. Timberdash are a sensory theatrical production group who work with school. Each week they tell us a sensory story and bring it to life with props and music. All the stories are related to bouncing so we are using the trampolines to get that sensory feel. This week we were sent into outer space and met some colourful and funny aliens. The children were able to feel lots of different materials, listen to many sounds and make lots of noise themselves with musical instruments and vocalisations. How lucky are we to be able to be part of such an amazing experience!
We have worked so hard this week during all our planned sessions. This week we have enjoyed the hydro pool and sensory circuits for the first time since coming back to school! We loved the freedom of movement and using our arms and legs to splash around! We also loved sensory circuits. During this we get a chance to use hammocks, water beds, access sensory lights and focus on Intensive Interaction and body awareness, at the end of the session we all enjoyed a bounce on the trampoline with a parachute.

June’s Class
Well what a wonderful last week at school we have had. Its been a very busy one packed with lots of fun. During our heatwave we made the most of our fabulous shaded balcony and got out the paddling pools to keep us cool, we’ve also had the year 6 leaver’s assembly, our achievers assembly, whole school singing in the adventure playground and we had a special pajama and film day on Wednesday for Yahya’s birthday. We all snuggled up on bean bags, sofa’s and blankets while in our pj’s and watched Moana. We certainly seemed to enjoy the film as none of us moved the whole time! We had some popcorn, candy floss, crisps and chocolate cake so its not surprising we all sat still!!.
We would just like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support, kind words and gifts throughout the year. The children and staff have all had an amazing year and loved every minute of every day. Although the children will be moving into new classes in September we will make sure we see them as much as possible and know they will continue to thrive with their new teachers.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday.
What an amazing last fun session we had in Hydro this week. After working hard all year on our Halliwick skills we decided to not only put our new skills into practice but to also get lots of different toys and flotation aids out and just have some good old fashion fun. We had beach balls, jugs, colanders, ducks and floaters. We also made a floating restaurant and sang our favourite Pirate song as well as doing lots and lots of splashing.
On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have a carnival come to school. They brought dancers, musicians and steel pans with them. The whole school got dressed up in bright colours, made beautiful banners and decorations and took musical instruments with them as we followed the carnival around the school. We all stopped in the adventure playground and they played Brazilian music and danced with us all afternoon. What an amazing experience we had.
On Thursday afternoon we had a special family afternoon in our outdoor seaside area. We were lucky enough that most of our parents were able to make it up to school to help celebrate a wonderful year. Thankfully the rain stayed away, the sunshine came back out and so did the strawberries and ice-cream! We played in the sand, hooked ducks from the water, make a picnic, read some seaside stories and done some dancing. Everyone had a fantastic time and we were all ready for a good nights sleep.
We hope you all a lovely weekend and the sun continues to shine for you all.
What a most amazing week we have had! We enjoyed three days of sports including, Dance, Bikes, Soft Play, Obstacle Course and Welly Wanging! All of the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in the different events and what was so good was mixing with different classes.
And then we had our Summer Trip out to Blyth beach. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. We paddled in the sea and built sandcastles. We enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and then after more fun on the beach we went up to the park. We ended our trip with a delicious ice cream. What a fabulous day and what was so lovely was having three of our parents with us.
Enjoy the weekend. It’s going to be a hot one!
Some of us were lucky enough to go and see a special interactive and sensory outdoor production of Grubbin’s Wood by TimbaDash. We had lots of fun interacting with the team and exploring different materials as well as using our sense of smell.
Well you can imagine the fun we had on Wednesday afternoon when we got the inflatables and paddling pools out! We all got into our swimming costumes and splashed, poured, sprayed and sunbathed out on our balcony. We got wet from head to toe and had the best time it certainly linked in with our seaside topic.
Our theme for this half term is “The Seaside” so we decided to make our own Seaside @ Hadrian (in the words of a famous song, “all that’s missing is the sea”) However, we have lots of sand, buckets, flags and shells and also trucks to transport the sand. We have water with “hook a duck” and a BBQ and lots of food to cook on it with a picnic basket. There’s seaside books and music to play and blue playdough and shells. We also have a wigwam and a pop up tent for shelter. Of course we still have a selection of bikes and hobby horses to ride.
Every day we spend time there and we also invited other classes to explore the area which they have all week. The space provides a wonderful opportunity to develop our play skills and our communication. We are also developing our social skills in playing together in a shared experience.
The weather has been kind to us thankfully but it’s ever changing.!
