Exploration and Investigation

9th March 2023John Mosley

This week, the children have been exploring and investigating different lights for our new topic in Exploration and Investigation. The children had a lovely time exploring the pop-up blackout tents, spinning light toys, infinity mirrors, light-up balloons, shiny foil blankets, and projector lights. It was a lovely session and the children had so much fun. Also this week, we loved our sensory story “Dexter Dog’s Adventure”, and we joined Dexter on the farm and explored all the farm-related sensory resources.

Check out how much fun we had in our photos.

World Book Day

3rd March 2023John Mosley

Welcome back everyone and we hope you all had a lovely half-term!

Also, happy World Book Day! What a fabulous day we have had. The children were able to come to school dressed as their favourite book characters or in their P.J.s. We started the morning with a visit from Dance Rox and we danced our socks off to a session based on the story “Room on the Broom”. Then, we went to see different animals brought into school by Rob the animal keeper, from Zoo Lab. He took us on an animal hunt based on the story “We’re going on a bear hunt”. There was a giant snail, two cockroaches, a snake, and a rat. The children were very brave and held, touched, and looked at the animals. The animals were slimy, scaly, and furry. To end the day, we had a whole school assembly to celebrate reading and a parade to show off our costumes.

See how much fun we have had in our photos.

Last week of term.

16th February 2023John Mosley

What a busy few days we have had this week. Some of our favourite sessions have been swimming, rebound therapy, and music therapy. Also, we enjoyed a whole school Valentine’s day and early pancake Tuesday assembly, where some of the children were able to help mix the pancake ingredients, and then Alex cooked the pancakes. Once they were made, the children were able to add their favourite fillings – chocolate sauce, jam, sugar, honey, or Nutella, and then eat them. The smell was amazing and they went down a treat.

We also had Black and White day on Thursday to support the TOON in their upcoming cup final. The children were able to come to school in their football strips or black and white clothing. We all gathered in the school hall for a sing-along with football songs. Everyone had so much fun!

To end the week, we had a lovely spa afternoon. The children enjoyed having a foot spa and a head and body massage.

Check out our fun week in the photos.

We hope you all have a lovely holiday.

Skybound

10th February 2023John Mosley

This week, we have all enjoyed a very special performance from Timbadash called SKYBOUND. This show was performed on the trampolines to give the feeling of bouncing up into the clouds. We were invited to Skyla’s pyjama party, in her duvet den with Dad and Pogo on their magical adventure up into the clouds.

The children had an amazing time exploring all the soft, fluffy resources, bouncing up into the clouds, looking at the lights, and listening to all the wonderful sounds.

Check out how much fun we had in our photos.

Hydrotherapy and the Yurt

26th January 2023John Mosley

This week, our favourite activities have been Hydrotherapy and the Yurt. We love Monday afternoons when we go to the pool for our Hydrotherapy session. The children love the feeling of being free, weightless, and floating in the warm water, which helps them to relax, and allows the adults to do their physical management plans, while also having fun with the pool toys, music, and lights.

On Tuesday, it was our turn to use the Yurt. It was a cold morning outside, but inside the Yurt, it was all warm and cosy for us to do our Music and Movement session. The children have their stretches first before exploring the resources, moving to the music, and interacting with their communication partner.

Chinese New Year.

20th January 2023John Mosley

Gung Hay Fat Choy. 2023 is the year of the Rabbit.

This week in class, we have been celebrating the Chinese New Year. We started the week with a Chinese music session. The children loved listening to and dancing to Chinese music, as well as dressing up in traditional Chinese clothing and playing with some lucky drums and other instruments. Also, we enjoyed a lovely story “The Chinese New Year”, all about the Jade Emperor and how he chose the 12 animals for the signs of the Chinese Zodiac. Our children listened to the story and looked at the different animal masks. To end the celebrations we had a whole school assembly where the children had smells and tastes of traditional Chinese food. Also, there was a lovely colourful Chinese dragon, with traditional Chinese music, and the children all danced and sang along.

‘Twas the week before Christmas

23rd December 2022John Mosley

Look at how much fun we have squeezed into the last school week of 2022!

We started the week with a visit from the Stage Coach Santa Bus. The children met Santa and his Elves, and received a little present. Tuesday was Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner Day, which was prepared by our lovely Sam and the team from the school kitchen. This was followed by a whole school sing-along outside in the adventure playground. Everyone was getting into the festive spirit, shaking bells, and singing carols. On Thursday, it was time to put on our party clothes for the KS2 Christmas party, with a special visit from the man himself, who brought the children another present as they were all on his nice list. Everyone had so much fun. To end the week on a high, we had a whole school Nativity play on Friday afternoon, and our two year six pupils were shepherds. They were amazing and made us very proud. Finally, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing our children again in January 2023.

A Christmas Cracker of a Week!

16th December 2022John Mosley

What a fabulous time we have had at school this week, full of fun and Christmas festivities!

On Monday, we were entertained by the amazing Chaplin Theatre Company with their performance of Aladdin. The children got involved and shouted “Oh yes they did!” and “It’s behind you”, and everyone had a really good morning.

On Wednesday, we went on our class trip to Dobbie’s Garden Centre. The children loved looking at all of the twinkling lights and Christmas decorations, as well as the smell of the fresh pine Christmas trees. We even saw some reindeer and polar bears as we walked through the snowy wonderland to get to Santa’s Grotto. Santa was sitting in his big chair, waiting to speak to our children, making sure that they were on his “Good” list before giving them a little present to take home. We all had a super day.

If that wasn’t a busy enough week, we also had our school Christmas performance on Thursday. The children were all amazing. We couldn’t be more proud of each and everyone one of them. They were all little superstars.

Take a look at all the fun from this week!
