What a week!

9th December 2022John Mosley

What a fun packed time we have had this week. On Monday, we had a wonderful morning in the yurt listening to our lovely Christmas sensory story. The children listened to Christmas music, and explored the bells, tinsel, baubles, fake snow, and presents. The children were really engaged with the resources and thoroughly enjoyed their morning.

On Wednesday, we all gathered in the school hall for a celebration of diversity. A massive thank you to our wonderful Teaching Assistant Labli Rahman for organizing the whole event. There were Punjabi singers, Bollywood singers, dancers, Henna artistry, instruments to play, and lots of delicious food. The children and staff had a fabulous afternoon.

On Friday, we had another whole school gathering for our second annual Elf Day. The staff and children looked amazing in their Elf/ Christmas outfits. All the classes paraded around the school corridors. Also, our Massage Therapist Zoe led our class in a sponsored Elf Day massage. The children were very calm and relaxed. We’ve all had so much fun this week. Check out our lovely photos.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

2nd December 2022John Mosley

This week in school, we have started our Christmas celebrations. During the night on Wednesday, the Elves came into school to decorate Christmas trees and hang Christmas decorations to make our school look very festive. On Thursday morning, we had an all-school Advent assembly, where the children learnt all about Nativity, sang Christmas carols together, and the oldest and youngest pupil turned on the big Christmas tree lights.

On Thursday afternoon, Chris Bostok came to school and performed some lovely stories that the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Also this week, we had an exciting messy play session where the children made Christmas art. Check out our photos to see how much fun we had!

Our new P.E. lesson

25th November 2022John Mosley

Every Wednesday afternoon, our class goes down to the sports hall for P.E . Recently, we have introduced a new type of session that incorporates Jabadao, Music and Movement, Passive Movements and Sensory Integration. Each child has a tailored Physical Management plan and an area in which to explore. Sessions are sequenced to music, with the same music each week. Some of the equipment that the children access include the body boards with bean bags on, the benches to practice sit-to-stand, and lots of other materials and resources for the children to investigate. Look at how much fun we had!

A day in the Yurt and Spudsey Bear

18th November 2022John Mosley

This week in school, on Wednesday, it was our turn to have a day in the yurt. Before school, we lit the log burner to make the yurt warm and cozy for when the children arrived. Tom, our Music Therapist, also joined us in the yurt to deliver a music lesson. After music, the children had a lovely massage session. They were very calm, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed their day. Also this week, on Friday, we celebrated Children in Need. The children came to school in their PJs or non-uniform and we were given a potato to decorate to make our very own Spudsey Bear. Check out our photos below. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Fire Engine Visit and Remembrance Day

11th November 2022John Mosley

This week, we have had a lovely visit from our friends at West Denton Fire Station – the Fire Cadet Instructor and the Fire Cadets came to visit the children in school with their fire engine. We were able to sit inside the fire engine and explore all of the equipment. The Fire Cadets were very friendly with our children, they let them try on their hats, and they allowed Katrina to feel the water coming from the huge fire hose! Also this week in class, we have been exploring with red resources and listening to reflective music, ready for Remembrance Day assembly on Friday. We hope you enjoy looking at our photos.

Autumn Festivities

4th November 2022John Mosley

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a lovely half term holiday. We have had a fun-packed first week back in class, where we welcomed a new friend Mansour. A beautiful boy who has the most infectious smile and has settled in really well.

On Monday afternoon, we went to the sports hall and enjoyed a  whole school Halloween party. There were witches, skeletons, ghosts and lots of scary  costumes. It was lovely to be dancing with all our friends. On Tuesday, we had another lovely afternoon in the caterpillar garden around the fire pit, singing firework songs with sparklers. To round off our week, on Friday afternoon, we enjoyed a whole school firework display and bonfire in the wildlife garden.

Check out our photos!

Zoom zoom zoom

13th October 2022John Mosley

We love it when our friends from Timbadash come into school and take us on a multi-sensory theatre journey. On this visit, they zoomed us off into space, where we met lots of alien friends. There was bird-dog Pete, Tardi who loved his tummy tickled, Worm, Phage, and Sam Phire. We also tried some space food, which was pink, fluffy, and smelt very very sweet. We left our finger print on a space rock before it was time to go back to earth.

We had so much fun and cant wait for our next session.

Check out our space pictures below.

Rebound therapy

7th October 2022John Mosley

Every Tuesday, we all enjoy our rebound therapy sessions. The movement of the bed helps our children to relax, which allows us to work on their muscle tone, balance and communication, while the children have fun. Check out the children’s photos and keep a look out for their progress photos coming later in the term.
