Happy Holidays!

18th July 2019John Mosley

We really can’t believe how fast this year has gone. It has been such a joy to work and play with all the children in our class, celebrating many successes along the way. It’s been a really busy year with the Shakespeare Festival, Bare-toed dance project, science week and arts-exhibition among the many highlights. It has also been wonderful to make use of our Rebound Therapy Centre throughout the school year.

I hope the children enjoy a well-earned rest and goodbye and best wishes to our Year 6 Leavers – we look forward to hearing all about your achievements in your new schools. For everybody else, we look forward to seeing you back in September.

Here’s a few photos from this week’s end-of-year trip to Ridley Park, Blyth:

Happy holidays!

June Update

27th June 2019John Mosley

On Wednesday we went to look at our spectacular Art Exhibition in the school sports hall, all of the art in the exhibition was created by our pupils. The children enjoyed feeling the range of textures and looking at the wide variety of objects on display. We have also made the most of the glorious sunshine with lots of water play and outdoor activities.

Science and DT Week!

17th May 2019John Mosley

This week we have been celebrating Science and DT week. We started the week with our whole school science assembly. This assembly was taken by “Cool Science” who demonstrated lots of experiments with us. The scientists from “Cool Science” had all the children engaged by showing them lots of weird and wonderful experiments. The whole week has been jam packed with lots of hands on activities which we all loved joining in with. These have included bubble play, star lab, light and dark sensory exploration zone, and the science fair in our school hall. We finished the week with Hadrian’s bake off. Our farm cake was delicious!

Its safe to say the children have had an absolute blast during Science week. The highlight of the week judging by the look on the children’s face’s, was our trip to the secret garden. We just loved being in the paddling pool, exploring the water in the sunshine. The day was filled with lots of bubble fun and laughter.

Well done to Jack getting the achievers certificate.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy our photos!

Farewell Lewis!

10th May 2019John Mosley

We would like to say our goodbyes to Lewis, one of our very popular colleagues. Lewis is off to Mallorca to experience life in the hospitality services! He has been a very supportive member of our team and we will miss his patience, knowledge and advice not to mention his sense of humour!

Lewis we wish you happiness and success for your life in the sun!

Cragside and Nunsmoor Fun Fair

3rd May 2019John Mosley

We have had a very busy week the highlights being a lovely trip to Cragside National Trust. When we arrived we went for a carriage drive around the estate passing all the formal gardens and the Iron Bridge. We then went for a multisensory walk around the lake and the dam. It was light drizzle and the children enjoyed the experience of feeling the rain on their faces. Asanosi and John loved the “Bare Foot Trail” feeling the different terrain under their feet. We then finished our trip at Cragside café to enjoy the delicious food!

Yet another outing on Thursday to the Nuns Moor Fun Fair. This was organised by Northumbria Police who joined in with the fun letting the children try on their hats and assisting the children on and off the rides. We would like to say a huge thank you to the organisers of this event as great fun was had by all.

Well done to Rehan for getting our half term Achiever’s award!

Bare Toed Dance – Day 3

22nd March 2019John Mosley

On Thursday morning we had one final performance of flying and spinning before enjoying our last session in the afternoon. All of the children enjoyed one last dance and sing before climbing into the hammocks and getting a relaxing massage. Asanosi was very engaged, sitting and playing with the fan and jumping around with his new friends. Bradley was also extremely engaged when listening to the guitar play, dancing along to the tune… He sat independently for 45 minutes! Owen had a little spin of the ariel before staff got one final go of testing their skills. We ended the session relaxing and listening to an acoustic version of bye bye baby, Jackson even showed off his big voice, vocalising goodbye at the end of the song.

Bare Toed Dance – Day 2

22nd March 2019John Mosley

On Wednesday they showed off more of their skills during a whole school performance, the children had loads of fun as the bugs ran around making fun of all the adults and pretending to be part of the audience! On Wednesday afternoon the children had loads of fun warming up, dancing and spinning around in their chairs before getting out and doing more exploration and hammock swinging. Asanosi had loads of fun sitting on the trapeze and was very comfortable swinging around in the hammock, he didn’t want to get out! Bradley had loads of fun sitting on the drum while we sang all of his favourite songs. The staff joined in all fun too, swinging from the trapeze, juggling and hula hooping. We ended with a big group music session singing I can sing a rainbow, throwing all the coloured voils into the air.

Bare Toed Dance – Day 1

22nd March 2019John Mosley

This week we have been very lucky to have a 3 day workshop with a company called bare toed dance and circus central. We had our first session on Tuesday morning which involved the children getting out of their chairs and exploring the different materials and massage toys. Everyone also got the opportunity to swing in the hammocks and the staff even got to have a try on the trapeze! Of course Mr Rollings had to test it out first to make sure it was safe. ..Tuesday afternoon the company put on a show for us in the afternoon, showing off all of their skills.
