World Book Day 2019!

22nd March 2019Dave Robinson

We all had a great day on Thursday celebrating World Book Day; all the children looked amazing in their costumes. We started the day with a visit from Zoo Lab which was a very interactive session getting to meet lots of different animals including Michelle the tortoise, Sapphire the rat, a Tarantula and a Snake. The children were very engaged during the session and were so brave holding them on their knees and giving them a stroke.

In the afternoon we had a special assembly where we watched our year 6 children acting out one of our favourite storybooks ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We also had a catwalk for some of the children to show off their wonderful costumes.

Hope you enjoyed looking at some of our photographs.

Have a lovely weekend!

What have we been up to?

14th February 2019John Mosley

We have been having lots of fun in John’s Class over the last couple of weeks!

We had a great time learning all about Chinese New Year and enjoyed joining in the celebrations. We had a Chinese sensory story, dressing up activities and listening to various types of Chinese music. We enjoyed tasting noodles, soya sauce and vegetable spring rolls.

We have also been enjoying some outdoor learning and our lovely music therapy sessions with Bev.

We hope you enjoy looking at some of our photos and we wish you all a good half term holiday.

Another Busy Week!

1st February 2019John Mosley

Hi Everyone!

Here is a quick snapshot of what we have been up to this week!

On Monday we really enjoyed our hydrotherapy session and the children worked really hard on their physical skills in the pool. We have also had fun accessing sensory circuits, rebound therapy, passive movements and our communication and exploration sessions. We were excited to see the snow has arrived today and some of us enjoyed learning outside.

Well done to Jack for getting our half term achiever’s award!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy looking at some of our photos!

Welcome back!

11th January 2019John Mosley

Welcome back to everyone after what was hopefully a lovely and fun Christmas break!

On Tuesday we had a party to celebrate Jack’s 11th birthday, we had a cake and a disco with our friends from Rachael’s class.
We are so pleased to see the children, they have all returned to school looking refreshed and feeling happy and relaxed. This week we have all been settling back in to the busy school routines. We have particularly enjoyed our therapeutic sessions and have worked extra hard on our physical development. We have also had lots of opportunities to work on our communication through various ways including; eye gazing, intensive interaction and photo choices.
We hope you enjoy looking at some of our photos.
Have a lovey weekend!

Fun At Christmas Time!

21st December 2018John Mosley

We have had a very busy week with lots of Christmas activities. We started on Monday with a trip to town to look at Fenwick’s window and the lights in Eldon Square followed by refreshments at Wilko’s. Tuesday was Christmas lunch day and on Wednesday our sports hall was transformed into a winter wonderland for the children to explore. On Thursday we had our Christmas party in the School Hall, where we joined in with lots of party games with  the rest of our friends in KS2. The Children were delighted to see Santa and were very lucky to receive another present! We had great fun at our Christmas assembly this morning and received yet more Christmas presents!
This afternoon we took part in the traditional nativity play and sang Christmas carols. Thank you all for the gifts and cards. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
Season’s greetings from everyone in John & Christine’s class.

‘Somewhere Only We Know’

19th December 2018John Mosley

As part of this year’s Christmas concert we joined together with Loveday’s class to produce a video of the children having lots of fun in a ‘Winter Wonderland’ to the ever so popular song ‘Somewhere only we know’. We think the video really captures how fantastic our children are, and we would like to say how very proud we are of each and every one of them.

A Lovely Week!

6th December 2018John Mosley

Bradley was 9 years old this week, so we decided to host a birthday party in the Sensory Room. We had fun listening to some of Bradley’s favourite music and also played a few games.

We have added some fabulous photographs of our superstars Jackson and Rehan which were taken during the performance of Anthony and Cleopatra at the Northern Stage.

Well done to Asanosi for getting our half term achiever’s award!

We hope you all enjoy the photographs.

A great week!

23rd November 2018John Mosley

We have had a very busy and exciting week in our class!

On Monday morning Vikki from Bag Books, came into school to read us a sensory story. The story was all about animals and a visit to the zoo. The children were really engaged throughout the story and waited very patiently as they each had a turn exploring the lovely animal props.

On Wednesday we were very lucky to have another lovely class trip. We visited the Odeon cinema at the Metrocentre to watch Fantastic Mr Fox. The movie was a hit with the children, they all had big smiles and there was lots of fun and laughter. The children enjoyed what was a multisensory experience through the smells, sounds and tastes at the cinema. We also went for a leisurely stroll around the Metrocentre to see the Christmas lights and some of us enjoyed our lunch at McDonalds!

We hope you enjoy looking at some of our photographs!

16th November 2018John Mosley

Hello Everyone!

Here is a snapshot of what we have been up to this week!

We really enjoyed our music therapy session which took place in our new dance studio. The children have enjoyed using all of the new instruments! Today we had lots of fun during our Children in Need assembly and we were all delighted to see Pudsey Bear! Some of the children were wearing their spots to show their support to Children in Need.

Jack was thrilled to get a special visit from his Aunty Karen and Uncle Johnny who came to visit him during our friendship Friday session.

We have another class trip to see Fantastic Mr Fox at the Odeon cinema on Wednesday 21st November.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy looking at some of our photos!

Our trip to Wallington Hall!

9th November 2018John Mosley

Last term we enjoyed our first class trip out together at the wonderful Wallington Hall. It was a glorious sunny, autumnal day and we all had a great time embarking on a ‘sensory walk’ to explore the beautiful grounds. After our excursion it was nice to have our lunch in the outdoor café area and some time to play before returning to school.
