Halloween and Fireworks (last week)

9th November 2022Antonia White

Welcome back everyone, it was lovely to see the children in costume last Monday, we ended the day with a Halloween disco which was fun. We’ve started trips into Newcastle city centre on the bus this week Madres and Lily went but everyone will get a turn.

We’ve been Egyptian farmers planting some pea seeds and continuing to look at the Egyptians and how they lived. We all made our own salt dough and made Scarab beetles, still waiting for them to dry then we will paint them.

Usual swimming, Football, Rebound and lots of play outside.

Friday we made different kinds of firework pictures using paint, chalk or colouring in sheets and in the afternoon we went outside to sing with Mr Rollins and a bonfire and fireworks.

Have a great weekend and I think your little ones will sleep well!

Rachel, Tracy, Alex, and Yvonne.

Happy Friday everyone

What a very busy week we’ve had Tuesday we we’re at the Hancock museum looking at all the Egyptian artefacts, the children we’re fascinated. We then took a little stroll down to every ones favourite restaurant Mc Donalds and then popped to Heaton park again the children we’re so well behaved.

Wednesday was swimming as usual and in the afternoon we made Divali clay pots. Thursday and Friday we had birthday parties for Madres and Holly and spent time in the yurt.

Friday we went to Dance City to do some creative dancing, the staff we’re lovely to us and let us create our own dance routine. We had our pack lunches in the café.

So its half term next week, everyone enjoy and we’ll see you soon.

Harvest festival week

14th October 2022Hope Hope

This is our 6th week and all good in class 13. Monday we spent time designing and colouring our posters for the police anti-crime competition, we’ve got some good ones so fingers crossed. On Tuesday we made some Indian food for our Harvest Festival assembly on Wednesday and a huge thank you to Anika’s mum for cooking and bringing to school some rice, samosas and pudding. Our Harvest Festival this year is to be an international affair, each class are doing a different dish and Mr Rollins and Mr Rayner have to taste them ha ha.

So the festival was great fun and did Mr Rayner enjoyed tasting everything, hmm? Our children dressed up and had a good sing song.

Thursday was football in the morning and in the afternoon we made Egyptian mummies and Sarcophagi. Friday we continued our festival assembly and had a lovely relaxing afternoon, well it is Friday.

Last week before half term YAY.

Have a good weekend.

Ancient Egypt…

30th September 2022Hope Hope

Hi everyone, we started this week off by working extremely hard on English and Maths, lots of great sequencing and writing in the afternoon we made fairy cakes.. It was lovely to see the parents on Tuesday morning for coffee, cake and a chat, the children were really well behaved and polite.

Wednesday morning we all thoroughly enjoyed swimming at Sir Charles Parsons again, we are very lucky to be able to access this pool and it’s also a great way of familiarising the school to the children. In the afternoon we had Science and tried a few experiments out.

Thursday our friend and footie coach Graeme came in for our PE lesson to touch up our skills, we actually had a game of football and it went really well the children love it and there was a lot of huffing and puffing which is always a good thing. In the afternoon we had a Police man come to have a chat with us about a competition we can entre against other schools in Newcastle. We have to design a Hate Crime poster which we will get stuck into shortly. We also listened to the story The Egyptian Cinderella continuing our Egyptian topic.

Would be great if PE kits could be brought in this week, thank you.

Have a great weekend.

Hello and welcome back!

23rd September 2022Hope Hope

Welcome to Class 13’s weekly blog. We will have lots of news, photos and information for you all to enjoy. Please feel free to browse our fabulous school website and visit other class blogs to see what they have all been up to.

We have jumped straight into it here at school exploring our new topic and learning all about the Egyptians, looking at hieroglyphics and exploring the pyramids. We have even created our own pyramid, in arts and crafts, to display for the whole school to touch and feel and explore themselves.

Not only have we been busy in arts and crafts but we have also enjoyed reviewing the story of Cinderella and sequencing the story to show our understanding and not only that we have been forming and writing our own sentences linked to the story.

Maths has been a firm favourite here in Class 13 and we have enjoyed playing our number ladder game and counting out our numbers with marbles! I must say we got some pretty talented peers in our class.

Pushing and pulling has been the order of the day for science and we have been out and about school looking for things we have to push and pull and we were astonished to find so many things that require this force from swings, to buggy’s to doors and chairs but our favourite was the body boards; we loved being pushed and pulled on them as well as pushing and pulling our friend’s.

As well as all of that we have been so lucky to have been asked to swim at Sir Charles Parsons. We were all so excited to get the bus to the school and go and use their facilities and what amazing swimmers we have. This will carry on every Wednesday for the whole school year.

We have had a super busy few weeks and the weeks have flew by here and we are so looking forward to see what the rest of the half term has to bring.

Dates to remember

  • Our coffee morning is on Tuesday 26th September
  • Swimming at Sir Charles Parsons Wednesday 27th September
