Favourite Things

11th January 2019Sharon Dodd

Welcome back to school and a happy new year to you all.

This term our topic is ‘Favourite Things’. Over the next 3 weeks we will be exploring the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. This week we have read the story and looked at lots of different resources such as big and small caterpillars, hard and soft butterflies and have touched, smelt and tasted the fruit from the story. We also enjoyed making our caterpillar shaped biscuits and decorating them using green icing and smarties for the eyes. We hope you enjoyed eating them as much as the children enjoyed creating them.

Christmas Party Day

19th December 2018Sharon Dodd

We all had a lovely time at our Christmas party today. This morning we played games, sang songs and danced with our friends. This afternoon we all sat around the Christmas tree and sang Christmas songs. We were then surprised by a special visitor – Santa Claus, who brought us all a Christmas present. It was then time to eat our party food. What a wonderful day was had by all.

We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas at Alnwick Gardens

13th December 2018Sharon Dodd

On Wednesday 12TH December we got all wrapped up, loaded the minibus and went to Alnwick Garden for our Christmas fun day.

When we arrived we were greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and 2 of Santa’s elves, dressed in their colourful Christmas clothes.

The Sugar Plum Fairy was there to help us with our fun activities in the Christmas Wonderland. She showed us all the beautiful Christmas trees, giant toy soldiers, Christmas gifts, fairy lights and twinkling icicles – what a magical wonderland.

Next we went to see Santa in his cabin, where we sang songs and all got a gift off Santa – we must have been very good. After visiting Santa, we had a short playtime on the tractors before heading to Santa’s workshop.

Santa’s elves helped us to make Christmas reindeer decorations to go on our trees, we danced and sang, and then helped the elves to find the lost toys to go in Santa’s sleigh.

By this time we were really tired and hungry so had our lunch before heading off to the ice rink.

What fun we had sliding around and playing in the ‘snow’.

After a fantastic and fun day it was time to head back to school.

What a wonderful day we all enjoyed.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

6th December 2018Sharon Dodd

What great fun we’ve had this week getting ready for Christmas. We have been very busy painting Christmas trees, decorating the classroom, learning about the Nativity and of course dressing up as Santa – we can’t wait for next week when we go to Alnwick Gardens to meet Santa himself and see what other treats are in store for us.
