Fun, fun and more fun!

19th March 2021Sharon Dodd

What fun we have had all week long celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and Comic Relief.

For St. Patrick’s Day we got dressed up in green, decorated shamrocks, took part in a hat competition, watched an amazing assembly and had dancing to Irish music in the classroom.

For Comic Relief we had a non-uniform day, coloured in some pictures, made superhero masks and made biscuits which we iced red and used sweets and edible decorations to make faces on them.

Another fun filled week!

The Gruffalo

12th March 2021Sharon Dodd

We had a lovely time this week exploring the story of ‘The Gruffalo’. We had a fun outdoors  as we went on a Gruffalo trail through the adventure playground and gardens of the school. We read the story and played with some props as well as watching the film while snuggled in the Yurt with bean bags and blankets.

The Three Little Pigs

8th March 2021Sharon Dodd

Well, what a busy and exciting time we had last week. We’ve been looking at and exploring the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We enjoyed reading the story as well as acting it out and of course the best part was hiding inside the three pigs houses, which were dens that we had made using blankets and furniture.
We also enjoyed making and decorating some pig face masks and the three little pig’s houses.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite story characters and joining in with virtual stories and dancing with the rest of the school. Finally, we tasted different foods that represented the straw (cheese strings), sticks (bread sticks), and bricks (sponge cake) used to build the three little pigs houses.

What a fabulous, fun week we all had!

Pizza

26th February 2021Sharon Dodd

We had a fabulous time on Thursday when we made our own pizza’s. We started off with making our own dough and each got a ball to roll out into a circle. We then grated cheese, cut mushrooms, tomatoes and ham ready to go on our pizza. We spread our tomato paste over the base before sprinkling the cheese and arranging the rest of the toppings on the pizza. We then cooked them, left them to cool and ate our pizza for snack. We hope you enjoyed the part we sent home for you all to try.

Chinese New Year

12th February 2021Sharon Dodd

To celebrate Chinese New Year we made some lanterns and decorated them with glitter and sequins, had a visit from a dragon and a special snack of noodles, spring rolls, egg fried rice, prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce. What a fabulous morning we all had.

Harry’s visit

12th February 2021Sharon Dodd

What a wonderful treat we had on Wednesday afternoon, Harry, Jackie’s West Highland White Terrier came in to school to visit us. We all had a stroke of him, gave him a treat, he showed us his tricks and took turns holding his leader as we went for a walk around the school grounds. He was lovely and gentle with us and we all had a fabulous time.

Children’s Mental Health Week

5th February 2021Sharon Dodd

We really embraced Children’s Mental Health week this week by picking some of our favourite things to do. We had a spa morning where the grown ups gave us hand and feet massages, we used foot spa’s and heat packs and listened to relaxing music. Something we all love doing in class is getting some free time to use the iPad’s so as you can imagine this was definitely a popular choice when we brought them out of the cupboard. As we have been learning about Jungle animals we decided to watch ‘The Lion King’ so out came the big bean bags and cushions, blankets and popcorn along with some hot chocolate. Also this week we have been talking about when we are happy and sad and looking at pictures to colour in to help us decide how we feel. You’ll be pleased to know all children and staff picked the happy face each day.

Messy play

5th February 2021Sharon Dodd

What great fun we had making lots of mess with our jungle animals. They plodded through chocolate and strawberry angel delight, crunched through cereal and pasta, splashed in jelly and got stuck in the gloop. We may have made a bit of a mess on the floor at the same time!

Jungle animals and beautiful butterflies

29th January 2021Sharon Dodd

Over the next 2 weeks we are going to be looking at Jungle animals so we decided to make our very own masks that we could hide behind and scare people. We explored lots of different media before deciding which textured material and colour we wanted to use to stick on our masks. As a special treat we watched ‘The Jungle Book’ so we could see all our favourite animals.

To finish off our ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ story we made a beautiful rainbow coloured butterfly cake.
