What a busy week!

22nd January 2021Sharon Dodd

We had a lovely time this week learning about South Asian culture. Robina brought in lots of different resources from clothes, jewelry, prayer mats and even some homemade food for us to try on, look at, explore and eat. We all really enjoyed this activity and loved eating lots of savoury and sweet foods.

As well as this we had great fun with our topic work about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We read the story from the book as well as listening to it on the smartboard, painted our own caterpillars and butterflies and made caterpillar cakes which were yummy.

Of course lets not forget the snow! Wow 3 weeks in a row we’ve managed to get a snow day how lucky are we.

Another snow day!

Wow how lucky were we to get another day we could play out in the snow.

Snow fun

8th January 2021Sharon Dodd

What great fun we had today playing in the snow. We all got wrapped up with waterproofs and wellies and went outside to build snowmen, make snowballs and have loads of fun. We didn’t mind about it being cold because we were just so excited. After playing out we thought it would be good to make some snow pictures to display on the wall.

Christmas fun

18th December 2020Sharon Dodd

What a lot of fun we’ve had this week with all our Christmas activities. We have used paint and glitter to make cards and calendars. We used marzipan and royal icing to finish off our Christmas cakes and then decorated them with beautiful edible Santa’s, snowmen, reindeer and penguins. We also were lucky enough to get to watch ‘The Polar Express’ one afternoon as well as joining in with an outdoor socially distanced Christmas carol sing-a-long.

Christmas party

17th December 2020Sharon Dodd

Well what a fabulous day we had on Wednesday for our Christmas party. We all got dressed up in our fancy party clothes and in the morning danced to some Christmas music in the hall. We played some party games and we all got a prize for doing so well. In the afternoon we sang some Christmas carols had a bit of a disco before we got a very special visitor – yes it was Santa himself, he came to our classroom with some presents for us all. After getting our presents and singing a few songs for Santa as a thank you, we got tucked into our lovely party food. It was a very busy but an amazing day full of fun and smiles.

Outdoor fun and Christmas cakes

27th November 2020Sharon Dodd

We’ve had so much fun this week getting outdoors and exploring throughout the school grounds. We made sure we were wrapped up warm and took advantage of the dry weather to play as much as we could outside in the fresh air. We went to look at all the art displays in the Caterpillar garden, they were absolutely amazing and we loved looking and feeling the different textures. We stood amongst the Roman Soldiers, Harry got wet and had loads of fun splashing Emma in the Water Wall and Mud Kitchen as well as crunching through and playing with all the leaves. Some of us played in the Adventure Playground on the swings and slides and we all cuddled up with blankets and had hot chocolate in the Yurt while listening to a story.

As well as all the great fun we had outdoors we also had a fabulous time making our Christmas cakes. We all helped to mixed and sieve, crack open eggs, fold butter and chop up the fruit. We might have made a bit of a mess but the smell of the baked cakes was definitely worth it!

Wizard of Oz

20th November 2020Sharon Dodd

What a wonderful treat we had on Thursday when M & M Productions came to school to give us a different type of performance of the Wizard of Oz. They used a very large screen to show us a pre- recorded version of the production with 1 member of the cast who was interacting with the video. This was a very different experience for us and the children all really enjoyed themselves.

Children in Need

13th November 2020Sharon Dodd

We had a great time this week getting ready for and celebrating Children in Need. We made yellow cakes which we decorated with yellow icing and different coloured Pudsey spots (smarties really) as well as making our own Pudsey headbands and colouring in Pudsey bear pictures. Some of us got dressed up for the day and we all enjoyed watching a bit of Pudsey dancing on the SmartBoard.

Fireworks

6th November 2020Sharon Dodd

We had great fun celebrating bonfire day. We made some star shaped biscuits and drizzled them with bright coloured icing to make then look like fireworks in the sky. We used tea bags and beautiful flourescent paint to make splats on paper. We spent the afternoon watching the wonderful firework display in the adventure playground and eating popcorn and cakes while drinking hot chocolate. What a fabulous day we had.

Happy Halloween

23rd October 2020Sharon Dodd

We had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween. In the morning we came into a spooky classroom all decorated with lit up pumpkins, ghosts projecting onto the walls and spiders and bats hanging from the doors and ceiling. After we had an explore we decorated pumpkins with orange and black tissue paper,  made some cakes and gingerbread men using white icing to make them look like cobwebs and skeletons. In the afternoon we had fun at our party playing games and eating lots of delicious food.

We hope you all have a great half term and we’ll see you after the holidays.
