5B joined their friends in 5A this week when we went on our Christmas trip.
Our day began with a quick visit to Newcastle city centre where we looked at Fenwick’s Christmas window. This year, the window tells the story of The Snowman by Raymond Briggs and it has been done beautifully! We all stared at each window for a long while, taking in the music and models.
After that, it was off to the Metro Centre to see Santa Claus! Santa’s grotto was inside a huge Christmas tree, covered in lights and, when you went inside, it was cosy and warm with a lovely fire and fireplace (not real, for safety reason, of course!) and lots of sacks of toys all about. Santa was very cheerful and chatted to us all for a while then we each got a lovely paint-by-numbers set! Excellent!
We were all quite hungry by this time so we had a delicious lunch at McDonalds – YUM! We were all extremely pleased with our lunches!
Our final stop was the Metro Centre train. It was brilliant fun sitting in the little carriages while the train made its way around the malls. We were waving at passers-by and they were waving back. We all laughed the whole time and it really was a wonderful experience!
Once the train ride ended, it was back to school. Everyone was very tired and a couple of us nearly fell asleep on the minibus! Having fun is tiring business!
