We have been learning outdoors and finding out about natural objects – natural objects have not been made by people, they are found all around us in the world. Plants, animals and rocks are all natural objects.
First of all we went on an interesting woodland walk to collect some natural objects to build our own nature sculptures – a sculpture is a 3D model. We made our model from clay and the natural objects we found.
We made bird feeders and hung them in our trees around school.
We also visited Scotswood Gardens to discover the characteristics of autumn and look for signs of autumn. We were very good at answering questions and we learnt a lot about autumn – colder, shorter days, fewer flowers, leaves changing colour, leaves fall off trees, creatures hibernating, birds migrating, fruits and seeds fall e.g. conkers, acorns, apples, pine cones.
We had a wonderful walk through the garden and collected a range of different colours/ types of leaves to make a leaf kebab.
We had a marvellous time with other outdoor activities such as bug hunting, den building, leaf clay prints, hammock rocking and listening to bird calls.
