Celebrations are well and truly under way ready for Easter and this week we have had some special guests join our class in the shape of an egg. On Monday ten Chicken eggs were delivered from Living Eggs and we had the very special task of keeping them warm in the incubator ready for them to hatch and on Wednesday we were very lucky to come into school to five eggs hatched and running around the incubator. Then during our sing school session we managed to catch a further two hatching out of their eggs – it was so special to watch and the children were all very excited.
We now have ten very lovely and very healthy chicks that we have been able to hold and watch run around both in their pen and on our carpet and fortunately we have them until next Friday so we can watch them grow and mature.
As well as watching our chicks, this week we have been carrying on with our Oxford Reading Tree words and reading books and we have been learning the Name, sound and picture of our phonics letters S, A, T, P, I, N. We have also been sequencing stories through picture, refining our cutting and sticking skills and learning all about our different feelings in PSHE.
Next week we have another very busy week in the run up to the Easter holidays. On Monday the 4th of April we are out all day on our trip to Northumberland Zoo which we are very excited about. Could we please ask that all children come into school appropriately dressed for the zoo, we have no control over the weather so we are expecting anything from snow to red hot sunshine (we are hoping for the latter!)
On Wednesday 6th we have our coffee afternoon from 1.30 and we are looking forward to meeting and greeting everyone’s parents and showing off all the work we have been doing in class and then on Friday the 8th we break up for the Easter Holidays and return to school on Monday the 25th of April.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
