Welcome back everyone!

1st March 2019Coralie Forbes

We’ve had a lovely week in NR/2 welcoming back the children after their half-term break.

As always, the children have thrown themselves into all the activities on offer in class and have also loved being outdoors in the sunshine during our surprising warm spell of weather!  Fun was had on the swings and roundabout as we played outdoors and enjoyed the fresh air.  We also now have a permanent sunshade fitted in our play area in time for the summer to provide us with some much needed shade for the children to play safely (photos to follow!).

We hope you enjoy the photographs!  Coralie and team.

Playing and having fun!

Pamper time!

The staff and children have all worked so hard this half term, so no doubt everyone will be ready for a week’s holiday to rest, recuperate and spend quality time with family.

We hope you enjoy the photographs of some of the things the children have been experiencing this week.

Happy holidays – Coralie and team.

Using our senses as we learn and play

8th February 2019Coralie Forbes

Each day in class we are building upon our children’s sensory experiences in order to help them progress, develop and make sense of things around them.

Sensory awareness of touch, taste, smell, looking, listening and movement is incorporated into many fun activities in class.  Throughout the week the children learn as a whole group, split into smaller groups or work 1:1 with an adult in order to focus on what is important to them.

We hope you enjoy our sensory fun photographs – Coralie and team.

Finding my favourites!

25th January 2019Coralie Forbes

‘My favourite things’ topic is proving to be an enjoyable one for our children.

As you know we are playing alongside jungle animals in our sensory corner, and exploring different toys in our sensory story.  The children are showing lots of interest and are beginning to show their preferences and things which interest and intrigue them.

We will continue this topic over the term by looking at other types of animals, stories etc. to find out more about the children as they experience, explore and encounter!  We hope you enjoy the photographs.

Happy weekend – Coralie and team!

A busy week!

18th January 2019Coralie Forbes

Hi everyone – Nursery/Reception 2 have had another fun and busy week.

The children experienced our new music and movement session where we played circle games, moved to action songs and practiced rolling and receiving a ball, as well as having a bounce on a huge ball! It was also a great opportunity for some of the children to use their walkers and standing frames for part of the session.

Our new Sensory story is also being well received by the children – it’s a tale all about ‘Jasper’ the cat looking for the perfect toy – the children will hopefully start to show us their favourites!

On a creative note, the children explored paint with their hands and feet and also made marks by pushing trucks and cars across paper on the floor – they made quite a work of art which we will display in our classroom.

Our jungle area is also proving popular too with the children finding their favourite parts as they play and explore.

We hope you enjoy some photographs of our week – Coralie and team.

Back to School – Happy New Year!

11th January 2019Coralie Forbes

We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break and had a relaxing time over the holidays!

We saw some excited and happy faces when the children came back into school and it has been a lovely week seeing everyone back fit and well.

The children have enjoyed many activities from music therapy to getting messy with gloop and paint this week.  They have also experienced communication and sensory group work, as well as their regular rebound and hydrotherapy sessions.

Our ‘stretch’ and ‘play’ area has now been transformed from a winter scene to the jungle as we explore our new topic – ‘my favourite things’ – focussing on different animals and toys etc.

We will also be starting our new sensory drama and sensory story so we will keep you posted on how the children are enjoying and learning through these activities.

We hope you enjoy the photographs – Coralie and team.

Our final festive week!

21st December 2018Coralie Forbes

Well, we can’t believe it’s the holidays already – the weeks have just flown by!

Our final week in school has been so lovely with lots of Christmas activities happening.  Everyone enjoyed wearing their festive jumpers for Christmas lunch in the hall with decorated tables, music and crackers.

Our Early Years party was great fun – dancing, party games and songs around the tree all set the scene for our long-awaited visitor – Mr Claus.  It was very special to see the children’s faces when they saw him and received a gift.

Today we are having a fun, festive whole school Assembly – where our Teachers tend to be a bit silly!  This afternoon we will enjoy our much loved traditional Nativity – this never fails to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.

Finally we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope that the holidays are filled with fun and happy times with your families.  Enjoy the rest also!  Coralie and team.

Festive activities!

14th December 2018Coralie Forbes

Our Christmas concert went brilliantly today.  The children were all amazing and we hope you enjoyed seeing your child ‘shine’ if you were able to attend.  A photograph will follow next week if you were unable to make it.

There have been lots of Christmas activities happening in class this week from our sensory story to play/exploration and art and craft.

Next week will also be fun and festive with our Christmas lunch on Tuesday, Christmas party on Wednesday (with a visit from Santa), and we will finish for the holidays with our traditional Nativity Assembly with carols by candlelight.

We hope you enjoy the photographs of some of the festive experiences this week

Out and about at Christmas time

7th December 2018Coralie Forbes

As you know, on Wednesday we ventured out to visit Heighley Gate Garden Centre with the children for our Christmas trip.

It wasn’t the best of days for the weather but luckily we were indoors – phew!  We were able to hire out the huge soft play area for three hours which was great as it was nice and quiet for the children to explore safely.  As soon as we arrived we dived straight into the soft play area and then we were able to use the same space for our lunch.  Time just flew by but we still had a little time to look at all the lovely displays and decorations with the children.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and the photographs from our trip – Coralie and team.

Being brave on the fast slide!
