Circle time news!

30th November 2018Coralie Forbes

Circle time is a very important part of our day in Nursery/Reception 2.  It’s where we all come together, say hello and find out what the morning/afternoon has in store.

The children are really enjoying our new daily rhyme which has opportunities for the children to use all their senses as we introduce the day.  It’s lovely to see lots of interest and curiosity as the the children explore.  Vocalising, tapping the tambourine/drum and learning to press a switch are also part of our routine as the children build upon their social skills and communication.  Time to look in the mirror and at photographs is also built in to this time, where appropriate.  Alongside our timetable symbols we use objects of reference to touch and feel to help the children understand what is going to happen next.

This fun, routine activity is helping the children become more confident and aware of themselves and their friends – we are seeing great progress!

We hope you enjoy the photographs – Coralie and team.

Enjoying the guitar as we sing

Learning to ‘look’ to find my own photograph

Pressing the switch to say “hello”

‘Call and response’ using the tambourine

Busy little people!

16th November 2018Coralie Forbes

The children have had another busy week and never fail to wow us with their interest, enthusiasm and progress as they become more familiar with their routines and  timetable.  Observing the children respond during their activities/curriculum we learn so much about them and their personalities each day!

We hope you enjoy the photographs of some of the things the children have been enjoying and engaging in class this week – Coralie and team.

Fun in Jabadao!

9th November 2018Coralie Forbes

Our children are enjoying their Jabadao sessions in school.  Music, lights, boxes, torches and props/sensory materials are all available to explore and experience. The children are becoming more engaged and interested in the environment each week and where possible, lead their own play and exploration.   We hope you enjoy the photographs – Coralie and team.

Hooray for soft play!

25th October 2018Coralie Forbes

Our children really enjoy their soft play session each week.  It is such a valuable resource in many ways for our children.  It is an opportunity to explore independently, safely and freely, socialise and play together, build upon physical/motor skills and not forgetting somewhere else to have lots of fun!

We hope you enjoy the photographs of the children enjoying their soft play sessions in school and also have a lovely half-term break – Coralie and team.

Working together!

19th October 2018Coralie Forbes

As our children are working through their curriculum and timetable we are seeing lots of progress, interaction and interest which is brilliant. Communication is always our key focus in everything we do, and the children are particularly enjoying their ‘circle time’ routine and their communication group in the Library.

Circle time consists of a rhyme using our senses – each day having a different sound, smell and touch. The children also see their picture, tap the drum and press a switch to say hello.

Communication group is also fun and allows for the children to make their own choices, show preferences, use their voice, and helps to develop their looking, listening and fine motor skills.

We hope you enjoy the photographs – Coralie and team.

Saying “I am here” in circle time

I’m here too!

Looking at my photograph

Listening to my favourite funny sound in my communication group

Peekaboo!

Pull!! My turn for peekaboo next!

I chose the chimes and made my own sound
