This week we have been learning all about the jungle and the animals that live within it. We took a trip to the Yurt where we had an amazing story….. We all joined in and each had a part to play, from cheeky monkeys, slithering snakes to enormous elephants. We have also transformed our class Sensory Room into a swishy swashy jungle, with lots of animals, dressing up activities and jungle instruments.

As part of World Book Day /week we have been exploring the story of Peter Pan. We have had some amazing activities that made it feel like we were stepping right into the book. Firstly we went outside to the pagoda where we were introduced to the main characters, Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell. Next stop The Yurt, we couldnt believe our eyes! It had been transformed into Peter Pans bedroom with lots of little beds. There was even a television playing a dvd. We all got comfy cosy and watched it. Next stop our Music Studio WOW!! This had been transformed into the magical world of Tinkerbell and her fairies, so much to see, feel and experience from beautiful twinkling lights to amazing flower gardens and butterflies. What an amazing storybook adventure we have had !
It all started on a cold chilly Tuesday afternoon when we went on a Tiger hunt. We had to collect many clues along out way – Clues were placed in the wildlife garden, hidden amongst plants, trees and shrubbery. The first clue was beyond a gate…. Oh no! We couldn’t go over it, we couldn’t go under it so we had to go through it…
All of the clues led us to a cosy Yurt, we couldn’t believe our eyes when we opened the door and we were greeted by the most beautiful, friendly tiger. We all got cosy together and shared a story…. The Tiger came to tea. Such a fun filled afternoon.
Lanterns and Firecrackers!
Throughout the story we have explored many of the traditions that go with celebrating Chinese New Year. It starts with cleaning the house, preparing special food and decorating with beautiful glowing lanterns and flowers. The story ends with an explosion of colour and firecrackers ! Hope you enjoy the pictures of us all experiencing these wonderful things.
It was great to be part of a whole school assembly again. We got all dressed up in traditional Chinese outfits. We looked so smart ! It was so much fun singing Chinese songs , smelling and tasting Chinese food, and we even joined in with a colourful dragon dance.
Our topic this term is Asia. This week we have enjoyed going on a spectacular tiger hunt, as part of our Sensory Drama. Calm Asian melodies helped us along our way, as we discovered swishy swashy bamboo, spicy smells, water lilies and pitter patter rice. We ended up in a cold dark cave where we came face to face with what we had been looking for!!! A HUGE FURRY STRIPEY TIGER!!! Just amazing !!
We have worked very hard on our counting this week. We all took turns to choose a number song. Who would have thought counting could be so much fun ! Popping peas, jumping monkeys, tickly spiders and speckled frogs ! Enjoy the pictures!

Yesterday we had so much fun, taking part in the schools National Elf Day with the sponsored Conga around school… Dancing in class and a few silly times throughout the day dressed as elves and getting into Mischief! Hehehe… :-p
