Happy half term break!

26th May 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone, happy half term Friday! We’ve absolutely loved our last week here in Dave’s class, and we’ve made sure to squeeze as much fun and exploration into every day.

Our week has been quite close to our standard timetable with soft play, rebound, hydrotherapy and jabadeo making their usual appearances; however we did get a very special invitation from our friends in Loveday’s class to attend their ‘Queen’s Jubilee’ sensory party on Thursday afternoon! This was definitely the star of our week, with the whole class loving having the chance to interact with another class and explore all of the fun stations that Loveday’s class set out for us. A huge thank you to all of our friends in Loveday’s class for being the friendliest hosts, we can’t wait for the next one!

This half term seems to have flown by for all of us here in Dave’s class. We hope everyone has the most amazing break and comes back to school on the 6th of June well rested and ready for more fun! – Dave and team 🙂

Happy Thursday from Dave’s class!

19th May 2022Dave Robinson

As Hadrian is closed for a training day tomorrow the blog is coming early this week, we hope that’s okay with you all! Despite being a four day week, we’ve managed to cram a whole heap of things into our time at school this week while making sure we managed to also spend as much time as possible outside enjoying this glorious weather.

On Tuesday we enjoyed our seaside sensory story again, and managed to get some absolutely gorgeous photos which will be making their way home soon! On Wednesday we all got to go along to our soft play and enjoyed a morning exploring walking on different textures and working on our climbing skills. Wednesday afternoon brought our weekly session with our friend Tom, the music therapist. We all had the chance to enjoy this session as one big group which is incredibly rare, and so we decided to take the chance to make it extra special and hold music therapy outside in the sunshine this week! We all loved the change of scenery,  and Tom was great at making sure we all got a chance to explore different instruments and have a strum of his guitar!

We’ve also taken time to exercise in our jabadeo and rebound sessions, stretch our legs and imaginations in the adventure playground, and taking lots of relaxing breaks in the sun!

We hope everyone enjoys their bonus long weekend, and hope the sun keeps his hat firmly on! – Dave and team 🙂

Happy Friday!

13th May 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone, happy Friday! Who else can’t believe that we’re already over half way through this half-term? These past few weeks have just flown by!

Here in Dave’s class, Hadrian’s cones ice-cream stall and Hadrian’s Plaice fish and chip shop were officially opened for business on Tuesday morning during our sensory story. Lots of our class enjoying taking turns operating the till, taking orders and boxing up some delicious (paper!) fish and chips. We also perfected our ‘under the sea’ station with the additions of a relaxing boat and a sunken treasure chest, which everyone loved exploring until we got a shock visit from pesky Mandy Shark!

We’ve also had lots of fun during our cookery lesson, getting absolutely covered in flour while exploring dough! Thankfully cookery took place outside this week so the flour bomb clean-up was minimal, although apologies to any parents who had to hose down their children on Monday evening!

Rounding off this week we’ve taken part in lots of fun sessions of jabadeo, rebound and hydrotherapy, with plenty of fun running around in the sunshine too to keep our bodies moving!

We hope everyone has a great weekend! – Dave and team 🙂

Our busy week in Dave’s class!

6th May 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone! We’ve hope everyone had fun on their three day weekend last weekend and enjoyed a bank holiday Monday in the sun. Despite being a shorter week in school, we’ve managed to cram all four days choc full of fun, play and exploration!

On Wednesday morning we attended a lovely assembly in tribute to a much-loved member of staff, where we all sat very sensibly enjoying the songs and lovely videos. Wednesday afternoon was back to our usual schedule with half of us loving an afternoon of swimming in rebound therapy and the other half of us enjoying our music therapy session with our friend, Tom!

Thursday morning brought us the chance to watch the incredible performance of ‘King Lear’ that our friends in KS2 put on as part of the Shakespeare for schools festival. We loved the sensory elements that the performance had and we couldn’t take our eyes off the show!

We also had the chance to take part in PE this week with Shirley and Phil’s classes which we all absolutely loved. We relished the chance to explore some new equipment and we couldn’t believe how brave our class were; climbing up stairs independently and then jumping off the top onto the crash mats!

On top of all of this fun we’ve managed to fit in our usual lessons of art and cookery, time in the mud kitchen and lots of outdoor learning when the weather allowed! After this very full on week, I think we’re all looking forward to a relaxing weekend ready to refresh for Monday!

Have a good one everyone – Dave and team 🙂

A warm welcome back from Dave’s class!

29th April 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone! We’ve had the most wonderful week back at school here in Dave’s class, full of action, adventure and plenty of fun!

On Tuesday we made a start on our new sensory story topic which is the Seaside! Everyone spent a brilliant morning exploring all of the different stations, which included inflatables and sand, an under the sea adventure and even a seaside shop section where we could try our hand at serving ice creams and fish and chips from our very own takeaway ‘Hadrian’s Plaice’. We all had such a fun time at our seaside, and we can’t wait to spend the rest of this term exploring this topic more.

On Thursday, four of our class got the chance to take a trip to Nunsmoor fun fair which the staff very kindly opened up early specially for Hadrian School pupils. Those who went couldn’t believe how lucky we were and definitely made the most of our time there; we went on every ride we wanted, even the high and fast ones! Our Emma proved to be the daredevil of the class and dragged Debbie onto the fastest and wildest rides she could find with absolutely no fear, she’s definitely our resident adrenaline junkie!

On top of all of this fun, we’ve loved getting back into the swing of our regular lessons and settling back down into our routines. Even though this half term is a short one, we know that if this week is anything to go by everyone is going to make the most of every minute!

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone! – Dave and team 🙂

The last week of term in Dave’s class!

8th April 2022Dave Robinson

Ramadan Mubarak to all of our friends who began celebrating this week! We’re wishing you a happy and healthy holy season, and are looking forward to celebrating Eid together in class.

We’ve had the loveliest week here in Dave’s class enjoying our last week in class together before our end of term break on Friday. We spent Tuesday morning turning our classroom into an Easter sensory story for all of our class to explore, and our group had such a good time playing that we decided to keep the decorations up for the rest of the week!

The Easter theme continued this week on Wednesday when we all got the chance to decorate a hard boiled egg, and then we spent Thursday morning rolling our creations down the biggest hill we could find! Everyone loved the chance to get silly, and be allowed to throw eggs around without being told off!

It’s been such a happy week in our class, filled with lots of laughter and smiles, which has been a wonderful end to this term! We hope everyone has a relaxing break, enjoy your two weeks off! – Dave and team 🙂

Goodbye March, and hello April!

31st March 2022Dave Robinson

We hope everyone has had as happy of a week as our Ameenah, just look at her big smile! Who else can’t quite believe we’re saying goodbye to March already? It feels like we’ve blinked and all of a sudden we’ve gone from making Christmas cards to Easter presents!

It feels like the weather can’t quite make up it’s mind either about what time of year it is; only last week we were outside splashing in our shorts during some water fun in the sunshine and today we’ve been wrapped up in wellies and waterproofs making snowballs (and definitely winning the snowball match against the older classes!)

We’ve had a few of our friends off school this week due to sickness which has meant class has felt quiet at times and we’re all looking forward to our friends feeling better and getting back into class soon!

Despite the quiet, we’ve managed to jam-pack another week here in Dave’s class with lots of fun and exploration, with plenty of chances to get mucky and let of steam! We started the week outside making the most of the clear skies with our cookery lesson on Monday, and then continued the messy theme by beginning our Easter crafts on Tuesday and Wednesday. No spoilers from us, but we’ve been working hard on them so we hope they’re loved when they make it home next week.

Our timetable of hydrotherapy, rebound, soft play and jabadao have continued as usual this week too, so we’re all feeling very ready for a weekend off to relax and recharge, ready for the final week of this half term! – Dave and team 🙂

St. Patrick’s Day in Dave’s class!

17th March 2022Dave Robinson

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Dave’s class!

Our class couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw our classroom this morning; it had been fully transformed into our very own, sensory dream version of the Emerald Isle, completed with a ceiling full of Irish balloons kindly donated by one of our lovely class parents.

We all couldn’t wait to get exploring and with some Irish folk playing in the background, we got right to work digging through a sensory table of green items, crawling through our rainbow tunnel into a secret leprechaun’s den, and even falling into our very own pot of gold!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our special themed day, and we are over the moon with how eager everyone was to investigate and interact with all of the areas we set up; we really do have the best class!

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Dave and team 🙂

Happy Friday from Dave’s class!

11th March 2022Dave Robinson

Here in Dave’s class we can’t believe that we’re at another Friday already; it feels like this week has just flown by in a haze of exploration, music and fun!

This week has been another busy one, with lots of time spent outdoors enjoying the gorgeous sunnier weather and plenty of opportunities to practice our gross motor skills. Our new cookery topic of jelly and custard began this week too, and our whole class thoroughly enjoyed the chance to use lots of different utensils to explore the different textures.

We’ve had a special art class this week in preparation for upcoming Mother’s Day; no spoilers here just incase any caregivers are reading! Our class all got involved in creating a lovely present to bring home, and we’re looking forward to sending them home in the next week.

After all of that, we’re all ready to take a leaf out of our Emma’s book and spend the weekend relaxing and recuperating ready for the week ahead!

-Dave and team 🙂

World Book Week in Dave’s class!

4th March 2022Dave Robinson

Hello and happy Friday! What a busy yet wonderful week we’ve had in Dave’s class this week celebrating World Book Week. We’ve been non-stop since Monday with a whole special timetable of book-themed treats and lessons alongside some of our class’ favourite usual activities.

We kicked the week off with a trip to Peter Pan’s bedroom in the Yurt and a few of us got to pay a visit his gorgeous sensory area where a special interactive display of lights, flowers and even a teepee had been put up. We loved exploring all of the different elements and had lots of fun snuggling up in the beds on the floor to watch part of the film.

On Tuesday we thoroughly enjoyed getting absolutely filthy in our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed cookery lesson this week, where we spent the afternoon playing in the sunshine with chocolate powder and water to splash and paint ourselves; some of us even had a sneaky taste or two!

We celebrated World Book Day in class all together on Thursday, where the grown ups surprised everyone with an Alice in Wonderland group costume and decorations and even a Mad Hatter’s tea party instead of our usual afternoon snack!

We were over the moon with the level of engagement and how much fun everybody has had this week, it’s been such a lovely first week back to school and we can’t wait for our next chance to take a trip to Wonderland!

-Dave and team 🙂
