This week in 2a

5th April 2019Dave Robinson

This week we have been doing lots of fun Easter activities. We made some delicious Easter nests in cookery on Monday AND had a fun Easter egg hunt which was organised by Paula, one of our volunteers.

We had a lovely time at the ceilidh on Wednesday and although we found some of the steps a little tricky, we gave it our best shot!

On Thursday we went outside and rolled our Easter eggs down the hill. There was lots of laughing and smiles as we chased down the hill after them!

Have a lovely Easter holiday!

Hello everyone.

We have had lots of fun this week in 2a! We started on Monday by making banana cakes and then working up a sweat in P.E. with some circuit training. We have designed and decorated some eggs ready for an egg race/egg tossing competition; and made Easter cards by creating our own collage of a chick. We have looked at measuring in Numeracy, and explored the differences between plants and animals in science. We would like to wish Owen a Happy 7th birthday for tomorrow (happy birthday Owen!) and we hope that you all have a happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!

Another week with lots of hard work!

In literacy some of us have been using our new class laptop to type our names. We have also been working hard making a phonics book to help us learn our letter sounds.

In art we have been using vehicles to mix colour. We were able to mix two different colours together to make a new one!  We made green, orange and purple!

The last 2 weeks in 2a

15th March 2019Dave Robinson

Unfortunately, our blogs didn’t work last week, so here are a few of the things we have enjoyed over the last two weeks.

We celebrated pancake day by making our own pancakes.

We loved dressing up for world book day. We had an excellent assembly where we showed off our costumes on the catwalk.

We have worked hard as always in our literacy and numeracy lessons.

Our snails have been well looked after and are growing nicely. We are all brave enough to hold them now!

We learned how plants grow by planting some cress seeds. We now have lots of cress that we will make into egg and cress sandwiches in our cookery lesson on Monday!

This week we started a new science topic ‘plants and animals in the local area’. We have been looking around the school grounds at the different plants and animals that could be found. As there was a lot of snails we decided to set up a ‘snail hotel’ in our classroom which we could use to help us learn more about the animals which live in our local area. We have been researching and exploring the different things snails need to be happy. We were able to collect lots of different things to put in our snail hotel, such as soil, apples, sticks and water. Some of us have been brave enough to hold the snails in our hands!

On Thursday we celebrated Fabien’s birthday by having a lovely party!

This week we have had lots of fun celebrating Chinese New Year! We enjoyed listening to the story of Chinese New Year and we loved making and eating Chinese food.

In Numeracy we have worked hard on our number targets and our box sculpture is coming along nicely.

On Thursday we went to Tesco to buy some cookery ingredients. We all had a turn at carrying the basket and scanning the ingredients. We were all very sensible and we are all looking forward to doing some more cooking next week!

On Monday we celebrated Raheel’s birthday. We had a lovely party with lots of dancing, games and of course a birthday cake!

On Tuesday we went outside and found lots of things to push and pull. We especially liked the tug of war! We also had cycling lessons from British Cycling. We are super cyclists!

Some of us had fun exploring the mud kitchen on Wednesday. We made lots of mud pies and other mud based recipes.

On Thursday we were amazed to see the snow! As soon as it started coming down we quickly put our coats on and headed outside where we caught snowflakes on our tongues, had snowball fights and made a snowman!

Happy New Year!

We have had a lovely first week back to school and everyone has worked super hard!

On Tuesday we opened our hairdressers, we have been cutting hair, drying hair, dying hair, booking appointments and trying out different hairstyles. (If anybody has any old wigs (?!) to donate to our salon – please send them in!).

On Wednesday we worked on our counting in numeracy and on Thursday we started our new Art topic on ‘sculptures’ by looking at the different sculptures around school. We found lots of interesting sculptures and enjoyed learning about what they mean.

We have had lots of fun this week doing lots of exciting Christmas activities! On Monday we all listened to Christmas music while decorating our class tree. We have also been working hard on some Christmas crafts. The most exciting day of the week was definitely Thursday, when we had our class trip to Adventurelands! We had a whole day of fun in soft play, had a lovely lunch and even an ice cream!

We have had another super busy week in 2a!

On Tuesday in Science we learned about our bodies. We started by drawing around our friends bodies on some big sheets of paper and then labelled different body parts.

On Wednesday we discovered the hydropool was not working properly so had to be fixed. This meant we were able to take a quick afternoon visit to Dobbies to have a look at the Christmas decorations to get some ideas for some Christmas crafts. We were all very sensible looking around the shop.

On Thursday we had a new friend starting in our class. Eyah has settled in very well and has had a great first 2 days in 2a.

We are all loving our Thursday afternoon Rebound sessions in the Rebound Centre and work hard every week!
