A Very In-Tents Week!

12th July 2019Simon Hall

We have had a fantastic week in 3A this week. We have been doing lots of activities based around camping and survival skills. We learned all about how to build a den out of sticks, how to start a fire when out and about, how to keep warm, how to hang out our washing and we had a lovely time by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. The children have all had a great time and they have all done amazingly well at all of the activities.

We would also like to say a big well done to Lillie who earned our certificate this week for being so enthusiastic and creative during our camping role playing. Lillie also earned her level 4 certificate this week for her work on the trampoline.

We would also like to congratulate T-Jay & Perrylee who also earned their level 4 rebound certificates this week.

Our Final Dive… For This Year At Least.

5th July 2019Simon Hall

This week we had our last swimming session at Byker pool for this academic year. All of our children have done amazing during their swimming lessons at Byker pool. Each one of them has grown in confidence so much over the year and we are incredibly proud of every single one of them.

We would like to say a big thank you to our lovely volunteer Klaudia who made us all a delightful peach cake on Thursday. It went down very well with the children… and the adults. It has been wonderful having Klaudia volunteer with us over the past year and we are very grateful for all of the help she has given us.

Well Done Muhammed Raza!

28th June 2019Simon Hall

We would like to say a big well done to Muhammed Raza this week. He has earned our half term achiever for all of his hard work over the last half term. He has really built up his confidence and has been trying lots of new activities. He is now confident enough to use new equipment in unfamiliar locations and is beginning to play independently. His confidence in his speech has also grown and he will now answer questions with self-assurance. We are all very proud of him!

We would also like to say a big happy birthday to Perrylee who had his birthday this week. We all had a lovely time celebrating with a party on Friday.

Bread is the Best!

21st June 2019Simon Hall

This week in 3A we have been working on tallies. We went out and we bought lots of different types of bread. We then tasted all of them and decided which ones where our favourites. We asked everybody which bread was their favourite and made a tally chart with the answers. In our class it was crumpets that were voted number one. So we shall certainly be having crumpets again in the future.

As we have been reading about flat Stanley recently we all made flat versions of ourselves. On Thursday we took them to the post office and posted them home. So keep an eye on your letterboxes for our flat children arriving.

We would also like to say a big congratulations to Kaleb who got our certificate this week for doing fantastic work at swimming and for being such a great friend. At the pool he was fantastic at picking up the hoops from the bottom of the pool and earlier in the week we had ice cream. Kaleb asked if he could hand out the ice cream to all of his friends. He served everybody before he even considered serving himself. Well done Kaleb.

We would also like to congratulate Perrylee & T-Jay for getting their level 3 rebound certificates. Anthony for getting his level 4 rebound certificate. Kaitlin for getting a medal for being such a good friend to Hope & to Lillie for getting a medal for doing such great work in literacy.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you all next week.

Subway!

14th June 2019Simon Hall

This Thursday we had a wonderful trip to the Metro Centre to go to Subway. All of the children had thought in advance about what they would like in their sandwiches and when we arrived they all ordered and paid for their own sandwiches. They all did a fantastic job and we are very proud of all of them.

We had a little picnic in class on Thursday afternoon to eat our lovely sandwiches and they went down very well with the children. The children all did such a fantastic job that they all got a certificate on Friday for doing so well. Well done everyone.

‘Tis The Sea-Sun

14th June 2019Simon Hall

This week we went to the beach on Monday. We had a whale of a time and we were lucky that the rain stayed away until Tuesday. We are so pleased that we were able to seas the day and take advantage of the sun before it disappeared. The children all had a lovely time exploring the sand, having a picnic on the beach and playing in the park. We made sand sculptures and castles… we started with the dry sand and it was a bit tricky, but where there’s a will there’s a wave and with some determination the children soon discovered that wet sand works much better.

All in all we all had a wonderful day and we are so pleased with how impeccable all of our children behaved when representing our school during this trip. Well done everyone.

Welcome Back Everyone!

7th June 2019Simon Hall

We would like to welcome everybody back after the holidays. We would also like to say a big welcome to Kairen who started working in our class in the last week of the last half term. Kairen is really enjoying her time in our class and we are very pleased to have her on board.

This week we have been doing lots of work for our arts award. We have been learning all about an artist named Kseniya Simonova. She won 100,000 euros on Ukraine’s Got Talent for her amazing volcanic sand art. So we have been experimenting with sand and looking at all of the different ways that we can manipulate it.

This Friday some of our children visited the Hadrian Hairdressers and had their hair and nails done. They all had a great time and are very happy with the results.

We would like to congratulate Perrylee for getting our certificate this week. He has been using his voice and signing so much over the past week and we are all very proud of him.

We would like to congratulate Adam for earning a medal this week for his great communication skills. Adam has also been signing and using his voice a lot over the past week and it has been fantastic to hear from him.

We would also like to thank Oliver for bringing in a wonderful array of snacks for our snack time… including a pineapple.

We would like to remind everyone that we are going on a trip to the beach on Monday so if the children would like to come in wearing summery clothes then they are welcome to do so. Also, could any children who have not brought sun cream into school already please bring some with them on Monday.
We have had a wonderful first week back and we look forward to what the coming weeks will bring. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Fun in the Sun!

23rd May 2019Simon Hall

For our last day of school this term we had a lovely trip to Exhibition Park this morning. We got to play in the sand, on the climbing frames and on the various swings. It was lovely to be out and about in the sun. We even got some ice creams from the café. The ice creams were very tasty and we all had a great time.

We have sent home a Flat Stanley for each child -this is the book we are going to base our summer ‘holidays’ topic on. We would love to see what he gets up to with you at home this holiday, please send any printed photos in or email them to Ellen at school.

We have all had a fantastic 5 week this half term and we wish you all a love holiday.
We look forward to seeing you all back at school on the 3rd and we hope to hear all about what everyone got up to over the holidays.

Making Science!

17th May 2019Simon Hall

Greetings everyone!
We have had a very busy week here in 3a. We have been celebrating science & D.T. week and doing lots of fun things. We made slime… which was very messy and made some delightful noises. We made our own sensory bottles with materials that we chose ourselves. We had a great time exploring the star lab and having a mini glow stick disco, even though the darkness was a little scary. We made our own boats out of recycled materials for a boat race. We went den building… which was a little bit sticky… but a great time none the less. In addition to all of this we also found time to make a giant sunflower out of cakes and flapjacks that we made ourselves for the Hadrian bake off. We also had lots of visitors to look at our science experiment at the science fair.
We would like to congratulate every child in our class as they all earned a certificate in assembly today for all of the hard work that they have put in over the last week. We are very proud of all of you.

We are absolutely thrilled that all of you enjoyed science week. We look forward to seeing you all next week & always remember… never trust an atom… they make up everything.

Art Attack!

10th May 2019Simon Hall

We have had a very artsy time in 3A this week. We have been working towards our Arts Mark Award and have been doing a variety of projects all based around art. We have been exploring how we can mix colours to make new colours and different shades. In addition we have also been drawing in the dark using some sand and a light box. This was a lot of fun and the children really got stuck into it. We spent time looking at beaches and the different colours that we can see there. We then made some lovely pictures of beaches and sandcastles.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing everybody on Monday.
