Valentine’s and Breakfast

18th February 2022June Ball

What a wonderful Valentine’s Day we had in school. We used pink tissue paper and red paint which we dipped our hands in to make beautiful cards to send home to our mums and dads. In the afternoon we had a beautiful party with heart shaped biscuits we had made ourselves, heart shaped plates and cups and lots of our favourite foods as well as some relaxing music. We also helped Ibrahim to celebrate the memory of his brother Marcus and lit some candles. On Tuesday Ibrahim’s mum sent in a gorgeous cake so we had another celebration in the afternoon.

We thought you might like to see some photos of how much our choosing and pouring skills have improved during our breakfast club. Everyone gets to chose from cereal, toast or yoghurt by using our symbols and can pour their own into bowls. We can now also, using small jugs, pour our choice of drink into our own cups. Just look at how good we are getting!

We hope you all have a great half term holiday and look forward to see the children after their break.

Chinese New Year

4th February 2022June Ball

What a wonderful and busy week we have had celebrating Chinese New Year. We used brightly coloured paints and glitter to make fans and lanterns. We then went into the Sports Hall for a Whole School Celebration. There was tasting of foods, a Dragon Dance and lovely songs which we had been learning previously. The children were amazing throughout.

In Food Technology we explored different Chinese foods and loved using chopsticks and giant tweezers to eat the noodles.

On Friday the children had the opportunity to get involved in a beautiful Chinese New year Sensory Story. They were immersed in smells, sights and sounds relating to the theme. Next week we will video it and put it on the Blog.

We have developed an Asian Bistro in our classroom. It’s a wonderful place to go and explore different foods. We are also getting really good at using chopsticks.

Have a good weekend.

Another Busy week!

28th January 2022June Ball

We have now got into the swing of brushing our teeth after lunch. We have been watching videos on the Smartboard all about Teeth Brushing which we have copied onto our Class Dojo.

We enjoyed a great session in the hydro Pool this week. we are working on the Halliwick Programme which develops a range of skills and confidence the water.

We have just started working on our “Asian Bistro” in class. We are changing the Home Area into a cafe/shop where you can go and eat/buy a range of different Asian foods. The children are already showing a great interest in the area and we are developing so many different skills in the process.

We hope you have a good weekend.

Asia

21st January 2022June Ball

Over the last 2 weeks we have begun to explore Asia. We have been doing this through music and movement incorporating it into our daily lessons. We are reading the book and learning the song ‘Animal Boogie’, which you can access on YouTube if you want to have a look at home.

On Tuesday we had our day in the Yurt, so we packed up our bean bags, blankets, hard and soft animals, our story book and some musical instruments and heading out for the day. On our way to the Yurt we had an explore of our beautiful surrounding gardens including the Flow Project and the Wildlife garden. Can you guess what we found during our walk? Lots of Jungle animals from our story, it was great fun finding a huge long snake and lots of monkeys hanging from trees. After that we needed a rest so curled up in the Yurt to have our story before Afra came to do some music and dance with us. We used lots of different instruments to take us on a journey across Asia.

During our Cookery sessions we have been using different spices which we were able to taste and smell as well as a wide variety of vegetables to make curried and savoury rice. We are definitely making the most of practicing our cutting and mixing skills.

During our P.E. sessions we are working on our movement skills by learning animal dances. We have been stomping like an elephants, stretching like a giraffe, slithering like a snake and many more movements.

Welcome To 2022!

8th January 2022June Ball

Happy New Year everyone. We are hoping that 2022 sees us getting back to doing things we used to do, particularly spending time together across the classes. ( Rumour has it that Strictly Fun Chances might be coming back😅)

We have had a busy three days. On Wednesday we introduced our new topic, Asia. We are going to be exploring lots of different aspects including animals, food, dance, art, weather, clothes etc. We will also be learning all about Bangladesh.

Over the last three days we have worked on our number skills, explored creative matetials, made sandwiches, been to Assembly, engaged in Story Yoga ( we went on a Safari) and had two sessions of PE ! Wow what a busy three days. We also made the most of the light snowfall where we wrapped up warm & went outside to catch a few flakes.

What a great start to 2022. We have so much planned over the next term so tune in to see what we’re up to. Also we post lots of photos & information on our Class Dojo.

Class Team.

Christmas is a Time……

20th December 2021June Ball

We had the most wonderful last week at school.

We enjoyed a delicious Christmas Lunch on Tuesday. In the morning we made and decorated gingerbread biscuits to have with our lunch. In the afternoon we all wrapped up warm and went outside for Christmas songs and Carols with our wonderful Hadrian School band and Mr Rollings leading the songs.

Thursday was our Elf day which kick started our Fund Raising got the new Hydro Pool. We dressed up as Elves and joined a few other classes in the Sports Hall for a warm up with Jo Jingle. It was great fun and our children really got stuck in. In the afternoon we had our Film and Slumber Party. We changed into pyjamas and snuggled down to watch Polar Express. We had snacks half way through and we were so comfortable that many of the children fell asleep!

On Friday we had a lovely relaxed morning choosing sensory activities and then did some Christmas Cosmic Yoga. In the afternoon we went to our beautiful Nativity assembly in the School Hall. It was lovely to watch the older children re telling the story of Christmas.

Wow what a week! Indeed the last three weeks have been fabulous. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our lovely families and friends for your continued support. Also heartfelt thanks for all of the gifts for both staff and children. We feel very lucky to have such wonderful and children in our class. We hope you have a peaceful Christmas and we also hope and pray for a happy and healthy New Year.

Apologies that we can’t upload the photographs but if you head over to our class Dojo you’ll find them all on there.

Babs, June, Leanne, Sue, Yvonne, Alex and Toni.

Lots Of Lovely Things

10th December 2021June Ball

What a busy, exciting week we’ve had this week. It was our School Trip on Wednesday to Horsley Woods, Church hall and Church. We had a great walk through the woods before going to the Church Hall for an indoor snowball fight! We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch and then went into the Church for a “Hunt the Chocolate Snowman” game. We also sang some of our favourite Christmas songs.

On Thursday we had our first “Get Together” with parents and families who came to see our Christmas performance. Our children were amazing and all joined in with the activities. We and all of our families were so impressed with the children. We had made a lovely selection of different foods to enjoy together. We hope to have more of these events in the New Year.

Love from all of the Team.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

3rd December 2021June Ball

Christmas has definitely started in our class! On Wednesday we had the most beautiful Advent Assembly altogether in the Hall. We watched the story of the Nativity and sang lovely songs. The huge Christmas tree had it’s lights switched on and candles were lit.

Coming back to class we decorated our tree and also decorated the room. It looks amazing.

This week we have also started making our Christmas Calendars and cards and yesterday we made up a recipe for Gingerbread Blondies!

And to top it all we had some snow this week which was great fun to explore even though it was rather cold!

What an amazing start to Christmas 2021. We have so much planned for next week too. We hope you have a good weekend from all our Team.

Active week for Reception/Year 1

26th November 2021June Ball

This week has been so active for our children, we’ve been in the Hydro Pool for the first in a while. Each and every child really enjoyed it. We thought a few might be quite nervous but they were all a delight, many more weeks to look forward to and build more confidence. Lots more Rebound was enjoyed as well!

Children in Need

19th November 2021June Ball

What a wonderful week we had doing lots of fun activities for Children in Need. We used our fingers and hands to make Pudsey masks, baked and decorated cakes using smarties for the dots and went on a spot hunt around school. Lots of us got dressed up and donated money or bought merchandise to help to towards Children in Need.
