Children in Need!

13th November 2020June Ball

What a fantastic start to the weekend we have had!

Today we celebrated Children in Need and all came to school in our best Pudsey outfits so we could raise money for a fantastic cause! We have had a great day doing all things Pudsey! With a special assembly, making our own little Pudsey bears with the playdough and even making our own Pudsey bears come to life with the iPads!

Take a look!

It was wonderful to have Dua back in school this week. She has settled into her new class so well. We thought she deserved a medal in Assembly Here she is collecting her medal from Mr Rollings.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Weekly news from class 3-4

13th November 2020Elaine Quinn

What a busy but wonderful week we have had in class 3-4.

In PE on Tuesday we started to compete in a virtual pentathlon, it is a great way for the children to compete with others schools in the current covid climate. We have a few more activities to take part in then send off our results and hopefully win some prizes.

We have celebrated Diwali this week, we learnt about the story of Rama and Sita then made some Rangoli patterns and diya lamps.

Thursday we celebrated Armistice Day, we made poppies to add to the wonderful whole school display. We watched the zoom annual Remembrance Assembly in the afternoon where we heard about family members of staff who had been in armed forces. This is also a time we remember and celebrate the lives of everyone we have lost at Hadrian School over the last 20 years.

Last but not least we have had a day of fun for ‘Children in Need’ the children looked great in their Pudsey outfits, after assembly we had a Pudsey bear hunt that the children loved.

We had a lovely day in the yurt on Tuesday, we played circle games, used yoga and dance to retell our class story, used boxes and blankets to make cozy dens to hibernate in and even had our packed lunches in there. In the afternoon we enjoyed a pamper session were we had our hair brushed or plaited, nails painted and a relaxing massage.

We had a whole school (socially distanced) firework display on Thursday afternoon, we all sat in our class bubbles but was lovely to see all our friends from other classes.

This is us working hard doing some beautiful firework art, and a few from us hibernating in the yurt.

This is James who will now be working in our class as Ray’s replacement. He has spent the last few days getting to know the children and is a big hit!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Toys and Fireworks!

6th November 2020Tracy Gooderick

This week we have been lucky enough to start our new humanities topic Toys: Old and New! This is our favourite ever topic!!!! The children explored all the toys and games in the classroom and chose their favourite. Max and Sabina did some research about Toys and Max definitely knew his way through the online Toy Shop catalogue! Linked to toys the children have been learning about Gifts in RE and we started this unit with a game of pass the parcel. It was really interesting to learn all about how we were feeling when we saw the box. We did lots of work on emotions. Also this week the children were very lucky to see some lovely Fireworks at our school Fireworks display. We also made some beautiful Fireworks pictures in class using a ‘splat the teabag’ technique! It got quite messy (nothing new in our class!).

Next week we have Children in Need on Friday so come in yellow, Pyjamas or Pudsey dress if you like!

We Made It & Goodbye To Jess

25th October 2020June Ball

Well we made it through the first half term. We are so proud of all our children, families and also our Team for successfully completing the last 7 weeks. We want to say a huge “thank you” for all of your support in these very difficult times. We know that a few of our children are still not with us but hope you have felt part of our class through the activities on Dojo and also through the Zoom Circle Times and Assemblies. We very much hope you will be back in school soon. Our children as always have risen to the challenge and worked incredibly hard in face of all of the uncertainty.

We’ve had a really god last week including continuing to explore “The Gruffalo” story in the Caterpillar Garden and also spending a day in the Yurt.

We enjoyed listening to the story outside where we met the different characters. We then split into small groups to build the three different homes – Fox’s underground house, Snake’s Logpile house and Owl’s Treetop house.

On Friday we spent the whole day in the Yurt. What a great day we had and even had our lunch in the Yurt. We danced and sang, played musical instruments and also played games using the lycra.

And sadly we also said “Goodbye” to our lovely Jess who left us on Friday. We will really miss her but very much hope we will stay in touch and when it is safe to do so, link up with her new school, Gibside. We wish her and her family all the very best.

We hope you have a safe and peaceful half term and look forward to seeing you on 2nd November.

Babs, June, Jess, Sue, Louise and Ann.

Happy Halloween

23rd October 2020Sharon Dodd

We had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween. In the morning we came into a spooky classroom all decorated with lit up pumpkins, ghosts projecting onto the walls and spiders and bats hanging from the doors and ceiling. After we had an explore we decorated pumpkins with orange and black tissue paper,  made some cakes and gingerbread men using white icing to make them look like cobwebs and skeletons. In the afternoon we had fun at our party playing games and eating lots of delicious food.

We hope you all have a great half term and we’ll see you after the holidays.

Dear Parents/Carers

The children have once again shown how resilient they are with strange week we have all had. We got right back in the swing of things yesterday and took part in some more outdoor learning where we were looking for conkers. The children enjoyed throwing things into the trees to try and knock them down This morning we enjoyed a zoom assembly as well as our first group session of music therapy with Tom. This afternoon for mental health awareness we have enjoyed relaxation in the classroom with bean bags and relaxing music in preparation for the weekend.

Thank you

Our School Yurt!

8th October 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share some of the great pictures from the yurt. This was out first experience as class so we decided to spend half a day there. While half visited the mud kitchen, half of the children had singing in the yurt! We then had a lovely snack and explored the outside areas surrounding the yurt.

We have also been focusing on building relationships with . We have such a vibrant and exciting bunch of children.

Hope you all have a lovely day,

Jess, Michele, Lindsay and Corrie
