This week in our class the children have been continuing their learning about Inventors! Last week they learned about the invention of Lego by Ole Kirk Christainsen and this week they have been learning who invented the humble Sandwich. The children have enjoyed finding out about John Montagu, The 4th Earl of Sandwich and looking at all the weird and wonderful sandwiches through the ages.
As part of our learning the children talked about healthy sandwiches and what makes good fillings. They told us what their favourite sandwich fillings are and they also learned a new sandwich song. The children then planned a sandwich and what they would put in it and they used this plan to make their delicious sandwiches. They practiced fine motor skills such as chopping and spreading and created some lovely open sandwiches which they ate at snacktime.
We had a very special visit in class this week from Antonia’s dog Porridge! She is very cute! The children were all very excited to see Porridge again and learn all about how to look after her and what she eats. Antonia brought some of Porridge’s snacks, the children tried to guess what they were but it was difficult because some of them were pigs’ ears and cow scalp!!! YUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK! The children took it in turns to walk Porridge before she went home.
Have a lovely weekend!
