We travelled back in time to explore old houses, shops and transport at Beamish this week! After learning the rooms of the house and what tools we use now for household chores, the children helped out Mrs Hinch as she tidied her pit cottage. They picked up the old toys, emptied the bed pans, swept the floors, and shined the brass and the shoes too. They also washed, dried and ironed the clothes and cleaned carpets by beating them! They had so much fun and it was amazing for the staff to stand back and hear/see them using the key vocabulary we have worked on this term – rooms of the house, household objects, ‘old’ and ‘new’. Their behaviour was impeccable and we were so proud to hear Beamish staff commenting on their manners and behaviour too!

We hope they carry on being helpful with the chores at home!

 Have a wonderful weekend!

They all look like they are really enjoying themselves. Sophia does help around the house and does like to help with a little bit of ironing sometimes. Photos are great. And so nice that the staff commented on how good our children are. Love this.
