This week we have continued with our Topic of Transport. Earlier on in the week the children went to explore Vikki’s car and learn the names of all the different parts of the car such as bonnet, door, boot and wheels. All the children blew us away with all their knowledge of cars and it opened up a lovely conversation about where we have been in our cars at home. We have been encouraging the children to use full sentences and ask each other about their weekend and nights at home to build upon their language skills.

As always we have been continuing on with our Maths and number work building upon our skills we have already ready learnt. We have all been trying our best to recognise numerals up to 10 and count reliably up to 5. Some of our children have even gone beyond that and are now doing adding, subtracting and multiplying, everyone has been doing some fantastic work.

We have also been continuing with our reading and we would like to encourage all parents and carer’s to read with their children at home, this makes a huge difference to our children’s reading experience. Everyone has come on so much this year with their reading and we are beyond proud.

We have also began planting in Science and the children planted cress and sunflower seeds yesterday so watch this space for how big the sunflowers grow – we are expecting them to grow as tall as school!

Unfortunately Louise left our class just before Easter to become our school Rebound coordinator and we wish her well with her new venture. In return Yvonne who has been our fantastic lunch time assistant and volunteer since September was given the Support assistant role within our class and has become an asset to our team.

A huge congratulations and well done to our lovely Nell who is our Half term achiever for her excellent work and effort this term. Nell has made tremendous progress in her reading, Maths and social skills and

has grown in confidence and has made strong relationships with her peers and familiar adults in class. Nell always tries her best with her learning. We are so proud of her and is a joy to have in class!

Just a quick reminder that children are off school on the 20th of May as it is our Teacher training day at school but children will be back to school on the 23rd of May for our last week before the half term. We will also be celebrating Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th year on the throne on Monday the 6th of June, our first Monday back to school after the holiday and children will be encouraged to dress up in royal clothing – more information to follow.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend

Shirley, Vikki, Robina, Lisa and Yvonne.
