Hi everyone,

A massive happy new year to you all and we are all very excited to be back in Class 1a. We have had a great week seeing the children and finding out about their wonderful Christmas’.

The children came back well rested, calm and excited to learn. We started the week with  some lovely Thrive time, we played and explored different resources and toys together. The children have all missed each other. We caught this great moment, as Dua read Ella a story.

For Literacy, we have been working on our mark making skills, the children loved grabbing a wet paint brush and observing their marks on the outside walls and play equipment. Look at those great lines and circles!

We introduced the characters of our new class story ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We started the story by introducing the characters to the children, we learnt the word, sign and symbol for pig and wolf. Some children can even recognise and read the words ‘pig’ and ‘wolf’ with no picture support! Next week, we will read the story and hope they can remember the words and signs.

   

We have also been learning all about our names, the initial sounds and recognising our written name.

                        

During PE, we started our topic ‘Games’, we began with a very hot warm up! After that, we practised our throwing and catching skills. All the children have different skill and it is fabulous to watch them shine in different areas of the curriculum. We have also had Rebound, soft play and some children have been swimming.

 

The children work extremely hard on their physical skills and we have noticed a huge difference in their strength, co-ordination and balance.

Well done to Sofia for receiving our Friday assembly certificate for independently standing up from her chair and walking to an adult.

Next Tuesday, we begin a weekly session on balance bikes for 5 weeks.
