Although the weather hasn’t been on our side the last couple of weeks, it hasn’t stopped us from doing everything on our timetable and taking full advantage of the learning opportunities around us.
On Monday, we were scheduled to have outdoor learning in the mud kitchen and wildlife garden. Rather than let a bit of rain stop us, we put on our waterproofs, fetched our wellies and set off. What a great idea that was! The rain left everything wet, with some time to explore we soon found out the water worked really well to mould and shape the sand. While some of us built castles and dug in the sand, others made their way over to the water wall! With all of the rainfall, all of the buckets were full to the top! Yahya and Fatima decided this was a great opportunity to utilise all of the different pots and pans we had with us. Transferring the water between each container and watching the stream was so fascinating, we had to ask for more! We had lots of talking during the session, “SPLASH” was definitely a team favourite.
We have also enjoyed getting out for community engagement to Newburn Park and Jesmond Dene, here the children can explore their surroundings and enjoy nature at its best. Again the weather did not stop us; in fact we had great fun splashing in the puddles with our wellies on.
Those of us that did not go out for community engagement had a trip down to sensory circuits; this was a lovely opportunity to have some intensive interaction with our peers and teachers. It is a relaxing environment where we can move around the room choosing from the various areas set up at our own interest and pace.
The fire pit has been moved to the caterpillar garden. On Friday 13 September the weather was glorious so we took advantage of the sun and gathered around the fire for some camp fire songs and socialising with some of our year 6 friends.
See you soon, Loveday and Team.
