Hello, sorry we have had no blog for the last two weeks, the class have been so busy enjoying all of their learning that we forgot to share it with you! So let us get you up to speed with what we have been up to.
We have been looking at the story ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson in English, the class have done lots of fantastic work around retelling parts of the story and looking at the feelings of the characters. As well as practising our writing skills and letter formations. We have our very own Stickman song that we enjoy singing to get us ready to work.
In maths we have been using our number skills in a variety of activities to practise counting. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing shop and being able to use the till to count how many items their friends were buying from them.
In Science we have been looking at materials and their properties, we started the topic by going around the outdoor areas in search for some sticks, leaves, flowers and blackberries. The class loved leading the way to show us where they could find these items.
We have been making the most of the lovely weather too and took our Art lesson outside on to the decking. The children used water colours to create self-portraits. There were some fantastic creative paintings made.
We were kindly given some apples from Phil’s parents who have their very own apple tree! We decided to make use of the apples in Cookery by making a delicious apple crumble and some homemade apple juice. We had to use a range of skills when making these including; cutting, mixing, squeezing, mashing (with a fork) and of course tasting!
We have also had a very physical couple of weeks, we are lucky to have football club on a Monday lunchtime so the children have been able to use the skills they are learning in PE on a Monday morning and transferring them to the lunch club. We have also had a go on the trim trail which was a huge hit with the class, this is a great way to challenge our balance and movement skills. Not forgetting that we have been doing Cosmic Yoga in class too to stretch ourselves out.
Another fabulous couple of weeks and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings for the class!
