Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! We have had a great week in Class 1a. We have begun to prepare for Christmas and there is tinsel everywhere. We have made some wonderful Christmas decorations and put our Christmas tree up. We have also been practicing for our class performance, which I hope you can all make – Friday 14th December.

During Science, we have learnt about day and night. We had two visitors from Class 1b which was lots of fun. The children were taught how to follow a bedtime routine with our class babies. They enjoyed washing their hair, brushing their teeth and putting on their nappies. When all the babies were sparkling clean and ready for bed, we read them a story. Many of the children learnt that it is light during the day and dark at night.

During Literacy, we were surprised with a very special parcel from Baby Bear. He had invited us to the moon for a picnic but we needed to make our own sandwich. The children were great at choosing what they wanted to put into their sandwich and used great fine motor skills to spread and cut the bread. When we opened the classroom door we were ‘whooshed’ to the moon! The picnic was definitely a success as they sat eating their sandwich and exploring the ‘moon’ for such a long time. When that was all finished, some children made a list of instructions on how to make their sandwich.

During Maths, we have been learning how to count using lots of number songs, our class tuck shop and Numicon. The children are learning lots of different skills, they can remove one object at the correct time during a song, give adults objects up to 5 and some children are estimating!

During Humanities, we are still learning all about old and new toys. The children love the old suitcase filled with old toys! They are so engaged, they happily and independently play. We are learning that old toys are mostly made from wood and metal, where as new toys are made mostly from plastic.

Thank you to everyone who has sent in a Christmas jumper and jeans in for our performance next Friday.

We have our class trip on Monday 10th December to Hall Hill Farm. This is all day so please wrap the children up nice and warm.

Happy Birthday to Sofia! Who is 5 today!

A great achievement – Mason M stood in front of the whole school and said a thank you prayer into a microphone for his baby sister Mila! What a proud moment!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
