This year we looked at how different countries around the world celebrate harvest festivals. We chose Japan as our country and the children participated in different activities pertaining to the Japanese culture. We prepared some sushi, did a sumo dance and designed our own Japanese costume called the Kimono. We had a special assembly to share all that we had learnt about the chosen country. The children were fascinated looking at different food from around the world. Our head girl and head boy were invited to taste and score the different dishes. We sang and danced to the harvest rock and roll song. A big thank you to all those who send in their contributions for the food bank.

We could not do the Zumba this week as the hall was being used by our parents for the coffee morning, so we did a workout in class instead. In food technology we made fruit muffins where, the children learnt about some fruits which are difficult to grow in England and how we can still enjoy them because it gets flown from other countries.

We had a special visit from the army truck and the army officer and the children had a great time exploring the truck and taking pictures with the hat and the helmet on.

Today we celebrated mental well-being day. It was all about feeling happy and keeping everyone around us happy. Both the children and the staff wore yellow, as it symbolises joy, happiness and positivity. We discussed how sometimes we can feel sad, angry or anxious because things don’t go the way we want to, we then talked about how we can engage in different activities to help our minds stay happy.  Some children said that when they are sad they love to have cuddles off their family members and their pets. The children engaged in different activities such as colouring, building blocks, reading a book, doing some art and craft or simply playing with toys or watching television. We concluded our day doing meditation with some relaxing music on.

Last but not the least our Noura got a certificate and Muhammad got a medal.
