Happy St Patrick’s Day!

18th March 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all safe and well. We had a wonderful day yesterday celebrating St Patrick’s Day. We started the day off with a green themed sensory play session. We filled the floor with materials, rice, toys and musical instruments all linked to the colour green. The children thoroughly enjoyed freely exploring all the resources.

We then had an amazing assembly, where we learnt all about St Patrick, how to say hello and goodbye and children read, danced, rapped and were full of joy.

Many thanks,

Jess and the Team

Horsey Horsey Don’t You Stop

13th March 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share some of the pictures we have taken at horse riding! We were all so amazed at how calm and relaxed they all were when sitting on for the first time! The children were so excited and waited patiently for their turn. The next session we had, they were all vocalising with excitement. It was a total joy and pleasure to watch how great they were!

We have been up to lots of exciting things! We made sensory playdough and the children loved it! They were exploring with their hands, face and mouth!

I will send home parents evening letter soon so we can organise times.

It’s our Katrina’s birthday tomorrow! Hope you have a wonderful day! We had her favourite music, cake and the sensory room to celebrate!

Have a lovely weekend.

Many thanks,

Jess, Lindsay, Alyson, Michele and Corrie

Happy Half Term from Class 1/2

14th February 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who was able to make it to the coffee afternoon, it was lovely to see you all! It is great to see how excited the children were to have you in their classroom.

We have had a fun two weeks in class! Our time tables have slighted changed – I will send you a revised copy. As we are in the jungle, every child was given  choice of two animals to paint! They were given the colours of the animal and allowed to freely explore the paint to create their very own version. They are now displayed on the wall in our rainforest café, they are amazing! Choosing is a difficult thing and our children are becoming fab at it!

Lucas chose to create a beautiful butterfly

Subasna made a bright coloured frog

Emma chose a leopard

We also had a fab swimming session and the children are excelling in the pool! They all get so excited and are becoming so brave – they are comfortable to dip their faces into the water!

Horse riding is next half term and will take place every Thursday afternoon – we will take them to the session on the mini bus. Only 7 children can attend at one time therefore two children will stay back each Thursday with an adult. This will alternate each week. If you haven’t sent your form in, there is still time. As long as it is back before the first session.

I will see you all at their EHCP meetings. Thank you to everyone who has sent in wipes, snacks and things for the children! We greatly appreciate it.

We hope you all have a wonderful and safe half term. Please could you let us know the fun things your child has been getting up to or how they have been doing over the week off!

Thank you,

Jess, Michele, Alyson, Lindsay and Corrie

Gong Hei Fat Choy or Happy Chinese New Year!

31st January 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

Happy Chinese New Year! We started the week off with a great assembly, we learnt all about Chinese New Year, the story behind the animals that represent time, how to count to 5 in Mandarin and we tasted some delicious food. The children loved the noodles and homemade prawn crackers. We had special visitors to our assembly and they donated boxes of fortune cookies.  Emma was the lucky girl chosen to try on the Chinese outfits and attempt to use chop sticks to eat her noodles!

We continued our theme of Chinese New Year throughout the week. We decided to get messy and create some beautiful red lanterns with lots of gold glitter. They look lovely hanging up in our classroom.

We had a sensory exploration session with coloured rice, coloured noodles and water play with Chinese bowls and spoons! The children experienced each section and were able to make a choice of where they would like to explore. Their favourite was definitely the dried rice and the exciting noises it made as it bounced off the tray and how it felt running their fingers. They also loved the water, we are learning how to fill and empty in class 1/2 and they loved the way the cellophane feels when it is wet – it also dyes the water!

I am sorry about the coffee afternoon mix up, I have rescheduled for the Thursday 13th February due to having a meeting (this one wont change).

Basheer was our Half Term Achiever, he has thrived and we are super proud of him. Well done!

Thank you and have a lovely weekend,

Jess, Lindsay, Corrie, Alyson and Michele

Jungle Jungle, Jungle Jungle Rock!

24th January 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

We are still enjoying our jungle theme and have been getting messy with paint. We have created a lovely tree and leaves to hang from our new cafe. They loved using their feet, hands and whole body to paint the tree trunk. Our leaves and trees are up and hanging from our Rainforest Cafe.

We have had year 6 visiting to see what new things have been added to the jungle! They are great with our children, sharing resources, singing to them and showing them various toys.

Have lovely weekend.

Down in the jungle where nobody goes…

17th January 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a wonderful week because we have! We started the week off with a great sensory exploration session in the jungle. We had a pond with frogs hiding inside, moon sand mud, spaghetti grass and elephants splashing around in blue cream! The children were engaged for over 20 minutes, they freely explored all areas, touching and tasting everything. They are all beginning to take an interest in their friend’s play and can all play excellently alongside each other.

Class 1/2 love the jungle! We have been exploring our new classroom and the children are using their play and investigation skills to explore all the animals, the feather pit and move threw the hanging vines. They love our crocodile who has recently visited!

We have had a fab music session and all the children loved lying on the drum and watching the feathers fly into the air. This week, we have created a Rainforest Café and Emma adores being in the kitchen cooking the adults and her friends lots of lovely meals.

Morgan thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside his friends for over 20 minutes!

Huge well done to our Katrina who has taken independent steps towards an adult for the first time in school. She has also stood independently for over a minute with confidence!

Important Dates

Friday 3rd February 1:30pm onwards we will be hosting a Coffee Afternoon for you to all meet each other and see our new Jungle/Rainforest themed classroom. We hope you can all make it.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

10th January 2020Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

Welcome back, we hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing Christmas break. The children came into school beaming and full of smiles. They were excited to see us and so were we! It has been a busy week settling back into routines of school life.

We started the week with a great exploration session using pans, wooden spoons and dried pasta in a tuff tray. We also had edible paint but the children all chose the pasta! Some children chose to make drums out of the pans and wooden spoons while another banged the tuff tray to watch the pasta jump into the air. They were copying, exploring and very engaged!

We have been working extremely hard on our physical and communication skills. Lucas received our certificate for crawling for the first time on the trampoline!

We have also began to introduce our new classroom area – the rain forest!  We had an excellent music session, singing songs about the jungle and banging the drum fast or slow. Children were learning to ask for more or use our core vocabulary asking for fast or slow.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Many thanks,

Jess, Michele, Corrie, Lindsay and Alyson

Christmas Party Time

17th December 2019Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, we had a fabulous party with our friends from KS1. We started the party with lots of fun games, including, corners, musical bumps and dress your teacher tree! They loved listening to the music and dancing around the school hall. They all looked wonderful in their Christmas jumpers and party clothes.

After an excellent party, we were first to be visited by SANTA! He gave us all a lovely present to open or take home from school. Emma was extremely excited when Santa walked through the door.

Santa is visiting again today, these gifts have been kindly donated by  Lindsay’s brother and his business partner. We are very lucky at Hadrian. It is lovely watching the children’s face when they see Santa.

I will post more photos of their Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner soon. Thank you very much for all the snacks for the party yesterday!

Many thanks,

Jess, Lindsay, Michele, Alyson and Corrie

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

6th December 2019Jess Burns

Hi everyone,

What a wonderful Christmas trip we all had. The children were so happy and chilled to be out and about, looking at the lights and seeing all the decorations. As we had the big man (Santa) booked in for 12, we decided to visit the soft play. They loved shuffling around the ball pool, sliding down the slide and climbing around.

Finally, it was time to see SANTA! He was lovely and great with the children. He was sitting inside a huge igloo and gave them each a present.

We took a walk around the Metro Centre and saw all the huge decorations and had a visit to the Disney shop. Then it was McDonald’s time! They ate so much and were all chilled after.

Thank you so much for your donations! We greatly appreciate it. We are already planning extra trips next term as this are they total superstars.

Emma was our half term achiever and very well deserved, we are having lots of her favourite treats this afternoon to celebrate!

Have a lovely weekend and our Christmas show is next Friday 13th December at 10 am. We are on first so make sure you get your seats nice and early. We still need white clothing from some of you, so please send them in as soon as possible please.

Many thanks,

Class 1/2
