Merry Christmas!

21st December 2018Rachael Budden

We have had an amazingly Christmassy week this week and are all officially in the Christmas spirit!  We have done lots of Christmas crafts and cooking along with going for pizza and having our Key Stage 2 Christmas party-phew!  Well done to Jack who won 6B’s Christmas Jumper Design competition!  Mrs.Stokle/Mrs. Elf judged the competition and what a fine choice she made!  Our party was brilliant yesterday-we couldn’t believe it when Santa himself arrived and gave us some amazing presents!

We also had someone else very special come to meet us this week…Lloyd who will be joining our class for 11 weeks next term whilst Marc will be going to his new placement at Southwick Academy.  Lloyd has some great things planned for us and we can’t wait to welcome him into out 6B family!

We all hope you have a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.  See you back on Tuesday 8th January 2018!

Lots of love and festive wishes,

Rachael, Marc, Janice, Tracy, Stu, Rob and Julie

Taking our talents on tour! Fergusson Lodge leg!

17th December 2018Phil Cookson

Hello and welcome to another blog! Just a quick note to talk about our trip to Fergusson Lodge this afternoon where we went singing for the residents. I can’t tell you how proud I am of all the children who came with us as they were an absolute credit to our school! From the moment they walked in they were engaging and talking with the residents who absolutely loved it and their day was truly made.

The children were of course brilliant when they were singing and gave a magnificent performance of some Hadrian classics and some well know Christmas songs! Well done to all our wonderful children and we look forward to our next visit sometime in the new year.

Thanks for reading!

Phil, June and Rachael!

It’s Oh So Quiet…

14th December 2018Rachael Budden

We are feeling so christmassy here in 6B and CANNOT WAIT to perform ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ in our Christmas Show this morning!  Our dress rehearsal was amazing so you are definitely in for a truly spectacular show!

In other news, we have been writing lots of descriptive poems in Literacy and have had our final summative assessment lesson on Data Handling in Numeracy-we are amazed at how much the children have learned and a big ‘thank you’ goes to Marc for teaching our brilliant lessons as part of his assessed teaching placement for the past five weeks.

We also watched a brilliantly funny pantomime on Wednesday in the school hall- we were so lucky to be given the opportunity laugh constantly for 2 hours at Cinderella!

Next week will be all things Christmassy- Christmas craft, Christmas craft, Christmas singing…you name it we will be having fun doing it!  Here is a reminder what is happening next week:

Tuesday:  Christmas Lunch

Wednesday: Visit to La Famiglia for a pizza lunch (if your child usually has a packed lunch then you can have a day off from making it!)

Thursday: Key Stage 2 Party during the afternoon- please could you send some party clothes in for your child (to wear all day or in a bag).

Friday: Staff Panto and Nativity.  Finish for Christmas until Tuesday 8th January 2019.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!  For now, here are some pictures of 6B getting festive!

6B’s Half Term Achiever

7th December 2018Rachael Budden

Our first Half Term Achievement certificate goes to…LEON!  Leon has really ‘learned to learn’ this term and this is reflected in his fantastic work in 6b!  His confidence has also grown so much!  He is willing to take part in unfamiliar activities in less familiar places and his performance on the Northern Stage was mind blowing!  He has also grown so much in independence.  Well done, Leon!  We are so proud of you!

“For there never were a pair so famous as Antony and Cleopatra”…

30th November 2018Rachael Budden

We laughed, we cried and we gasped! Once again, our children rose to the challenge of delivering a stunning thirty minute interpretation of another one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, Antony and Cleopatra. From portraying the struggle between reason and emotion and the clash between east and west to the fighting and extravagant declarations of love, the children exceptionally captured the main themes of the play. Our children did us hugely proud and they thoroughly deserved all of the positive comments they received for their performance.

Here is a sneak peek of the photos of 6b from the performance-the rest will follow in the Hadrian Herald!

Our week!

30th November 2018Rachael Budden

We have had some brilliant lessons this week (thanks Marc!) and the children have made so much progress!  Some of us have been writing some fantastic rhyming poetry and the others have been having fun making silly rhyming soup.  Our mathemagician awards went to Joseph, Joe and Amelia this week-well done to our mathemagicians!  In Numeracy, we have been creating pictograms, block graphs and bar charts.  We can’t wait to go to the airport later in the term to see if travelers are going to hot or cold countries!

We are looking forward to a session with Dance City in the Sports Hall on Tuesday, swimming on Wednesday at Sir Charles Parsons School and our Christmas trip to the Tyneside Cinema on Monday 10th December.  This afternoon, we will be putting up our Christmas tree and are expecting lots of excitement!

Have a lovely weekend!

What a wonderful week!

16th November 2018Rachael Budden

We are still basking in our glory of our standing ovation for Antony and Cleopatra last week! Our performance seems like forever ago yet it is not forgotten, as we are performing again in assembly on Monday-hooray!

We have been focusing on poetry this week where the children have been brilliant at performing ‘Splish, Splash Splosh’! Next week, we will move onto writing our very own poetry! Everyone has also been working hard in our shape lessons-congratulations to Saffron and Bradley who are our Mathemagicians of the week!  In PE, we have begun our Basketball unit.  We already have spotted some budding basketballers in 6b so watch this space, Newcastle Eagles!

Today is Children in Need and 6b all look fabulous! Thank you to everyone for your donations to such a fantastic cause. We can’t wait to meet Pudsey Bear this afternoon!

We will be going Swimming to Sir Charles Parsons School next Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend

Rachael, Marc, Tracy

Welcome to our blog!

19th October 2018Rachael Budden

Hello and welcome to our new blog!

We have had such a busy week in 6B!  We had a great time at the Cast Workshop at the Northern Stage- we joined in with lots of Drama games, made some new friends from Benfield School and worked on a new scene for our play, ‘Antony Cleopatra’.  Tom from Shakespeare Schools Foundation was brilliant and really helped us to act really well!  We also got the chance to take a sneak peek of a Benfield School’s performance of ‘The Tempest’-lucky us!  We have also been working hard at school in rehearsals.  Tickets are now available at school reception-we really hope you can come to watch us!

In other news, we have started studying a new book called ‘Perfectly Norman’.  We will be continuing to work around it next week.  We have also been working hard on telling the time in Numeracy and we are already so impressed!  An extra ‘well done’ goes to Joe who received 6B’s achievement certificate this morning for his super hard work in Numeracy.

Swimming at Sir Charles Parsons School continues to be every Wednesday afternoon.  Our visits to Newcastle will resume again after our performance of Antony and Cleopatra so watch this space!

Have a lovely weekend!

Rachael, Marc, Tracy, Stu, Rob and Julie
