Sending Letters…

25th June 2021Rachael Budden

This week we have been learning all about letters in English. We have learnt the key features of how to write a letter and the reasons why people write letters. This week we completed a plan to write a reply to a letter to Mr Rollings sent us. Once we had completed our plan we then wrote a final reply to him which was great!  We are now planning a letter to write to our new teachers at Sir Charles Parsons. We cant wait to share them with you all.

In science we experimented with fizzy drinks and mints to see which one would make the biggest explosion. We had so much fun!

‘My Dad Is A Grizzly Bear’!

20th May 2021Rachael Budden

We have had so much fun in class 6 this week! We were so lucky we got to take part in another Authors into Schools session ran by Seven Stories. In this session we joined a live stream with the Author (Swapna Haddow) and the Illustrator (Dapo Adeola) of the story book ‘My Dad Is A Grizzly Bear’. It was amazing!! They answered all of our questions and Depo even taught us how to draw a Grizzly Bear.

In English we have been reading ‘My Dad Is A Grizzly Bear’ and we have been thinking of what actions a Grizzly Bear would make and acted them out. We then wrote some sentences of why the Dad in the story was like Grizzly Bear. We love ‘My Dad Is A Grizzly Bear’!

Busy Week at School!

14th May 2021Rachael Budden

This week we have been so busy! On Monday some of our year 6’s visited their new school, Sir Charles Parsons! We got to have a quick look around the school, say hello to some old friend and even got to play outside! We had so much fun!

We have been learning all about plants in Science and we have been on a plant hunt. We explored our school grounds to find which different plants we could find and tick them off once we had found them.

In PE we have been improving our rounders skills and we are amazing at it. Because it was sunny we were able to play rounders outside and it was so fun! We love rounders!

In Maths some of us have been learning our number bonds to 10 using tens frames and we are making so much progress! We can even write the number sentences to show our number the bonds!

We have started our Shakespeare live action performance this week and we have had so much fun. We can’t wait for everyone to see it!

What a lucky class we are!

30th April 2021Rachael Budden

This week we have been so lucky we have not only had a workshop with a author but also won a competition!

In English we had a workshop zoom session with the author and illustrator of the book ‘Luna Loves Art’ ! The illustrator from the book Fiona Lumbers, taught us how to draw some of her amazing drawings! Both the author Joseph Coelho and the illustrator Fiona Lumbers answered some of our amazing questions about how he became an author.

We also won a Big Grow kit from Innocent with lots of seeds and fun resources. In science we planted our own seeds to eventually grow into vegetables. We planted radishes, mixed salad leaf, beetroot and spinach! We had so much fun and cant wait to see them grow!

“We’re going on a Gruffalo Hunt!”

26th March 2021Rachael Budden

Tuesday marked National Day of Reflection, one year since the start of the first lockdown. In class we discussed how our daily lives have been affected by COVID and what we are looking forward to doing the most, once the lockdown is over. We have displayed these around our classroom and made a beautiful window display of our Day of Reflection art.

In Maths we completed our school Gruffalo trail! We marked off on the map where we found each character and it was so much fun! We managed to find all the characters hiding in school and ticked them off on the way!

We have also been using our Gruffalo characters in PE and we thought about how they would move through the forest. We used these moves in PE to move around the hall of each character.
