It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

4th December 2020Rachael Budden

This week, we have started to get into the Christmas spirit! We all helped to put our class Christmas Tree up and decorated our classroom.

In Food Technology we made our own shortbread and hot chocolate, it was so yummy! After we worked hard making our shortbread, we enjoyed a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows!

A very fun week!!

26th November 2020Rachael Budden

This week, we have been very busy having so much fun! In Food Technology we made our own sandwiches using hot dogs, cheese, tomato’s, cucumber and tuna. To go with our sandwich we also put some instructions in the correct order to show others how to make one.

In Art we have been looking at road signs and an artist called Clet Abraham who re-designs road signs in his own style. We used Abrahams style to design our own to be displayed in our Caterpillar garden. We had so much fun whilst making it!

We have had such a fun week!!

The Wizard of Oz

20th November 2020Rachael Budden

This week the Wizard of Oz came to Hadrian School! Our friends at Blakelaw Club kindly donated money to allow a reenactment of the Wizard of OZ to take place in our school, we are very lucky! Everyone had so much fun!!

A very busy week!

13th November 2020Rachael Budden

Class 6b have had a very busy week this week! We have been writing poems, all about Remembrance Day and attended our zoom remembrance day assembly, to pay our respects for those who have passed.

We also took part in a virtual Pentathlon this week in PE. We played lots of fun games, which involved working in teams to collect all our beanbags, knocking the ball off the cone and balancing the bean bag on the bat. We all had so much fun!

This week we voted for our School Councils Head Boy and Head Girl! Those in year 6 who were in the running for head Boy and Girl did a campaign speech on why people should vote for them. After the campaigns, all the children voted for who they wanted as their Head Boy and Girl and their School Council representative.  After the votes were counted our new Head Boy and Head Girl of 2020 are… Chloe and Tristan!! They both will be fantastic additions to the school council team and great role models for the rest of the school. We are all so proud of them!

We have also celebrated Children in Need this week and all the children in class 6b came to school in non-uniform and brought in a donation to raise money for children in need. We had lots of fun colouring in our Pudsey bear pictures and doing fun children in need activities.

What a great week we have had!

Bonfire Fun and Poems

6th November 2020Rachael Budden

What a brilliant first week back we have had!  The children have worked super hard in English producing poems linked to Bonfire Night and their 5 senses.  Here’s some examples of their brilliant work:

We remember the 5th November,

The smell of the fireworks, barbecue and fire

The feel of the warm air, hot dog bun and sweets,

The sight of the fireworks and all their colours,

The sound of the fireworks-they have a big bang,

These things will never be forgotten.

These things will never be forgotten-

The sight of the fireworks, colours

The smell of the fire

The touch of the sparklers

The taste of the hot dogs

The sound of ‘bang’!

We have started Reading Buddies this week- this year the Reading Buddies will be reading to others in their class instead of younger classes.  Well done T-Jay, Darren and Lillie!

We also had a brilliant day in the yurt yesterday making a Guy Fawkes and doing fireworks crafts.  We even had some hot dogs, heated up on the stove, and ended the day with our brilliant Fireworks display assembly and back into the yurt for storytelling during the afternoon.  What a brilliant week!

Happy Halloween

23rd October 2020Rachael Budden

Rachael’s class have been having so much fun this week. We have been getting prepared for our Halloween party. Making our own table cloths and making spooky treats. We made jelly with spooky worms in and crispy spider cakes. As well as baking, we have been creating lots of art work to display around our classroom and generally having lots of fun!

We hope you have a lovely half-term everyone!

Home Learning

7th October 2020Rachael Budden

6b have been very busy bees learning at home!  Just look at some of the things which they have produced.  We are particularly impressed with their sandwich making skills – the smiley faces are just brilliant!  Well done to everyone.

6b Chefs (and other stories)

18th September 2020Rachael Budden

We have had another great week this week with the highlight of it definitely being making (or rather eating!) apple crumble!  The children showed us how brilliant they are at baking by picking, peeling and chopping apples and making the crumble too. It definitely went down very well!  We have also finished our Frieda Khalo-inspired self portraits and we are over the moon with the final pieces!

The children have also wowed us with their number skills and we have started a new text, There’s An Alien in Your Book, which everyone is enjoying.  What a busy week!

Welcome Back!

11th September 2020Rachael Budden

We have had a brilliant first week back at school – we have never seen so many smiling faces and the children have thrown themselves back into Hadrian life with such enthusiasm and enjoyment!  We have spent lots of time outdoors this week, enjoying activities such as outdoor maths trails, apple picking, chalk pictures and exploring our feelings monsters.  We are also in the process of creating Freida Khalo inspired self portraits so watch this space for the finished pieces. Phew, what a busy week!

World Book Day

6th March 2020Rachael Budden

We had an absolutely very busy but brilliant World Book Day yesterday!

Our performance of The Tiger Who Came to Tea was just amazing- hats off to Callum for being brilliant as the Daddy-Callum’s first ever starring role in a Hadrian performance!  Joe, Abbie and Rachel were brilliant as ever and we were so proud of Damien playing the waiter!

Ruby represented 6b in our catwalk as the Evil Pea and did a fab job-your costume was amazing Ruby!

For our World Book Day Themed menu, we had the choice between Moody Marger-ita Pizza and Gruffalo Pie with Supertato Mash or Where’s Wally Wedges – absolutely yummy!

We were so happy to have Emma back from Sir Charles Parsons School on World Book Day. Emma did an AMAZING job of storytelling to a whole NINE classes across three sessions! Well done Emma, you were a star. We hope you enjoyed your day as a member of the Hadrian staff team!

Well done to our Reading Buddies- Joe, Ruby, Abbie and Callum who read an array of stories to younger children across three sessions.  You worked so hard and we are so proud here in 6b!
