What a “flipping” fantastic week!

28th February 2020Rachael Budden

We have thoroughly enjoyed our first week back – our favourite parts was definitely the snow and the pancakes!  Our pancake assembly was brilliant (thanks Mrs. Stokle!) and we even put our chefs hats on in class to design and make some of our own.  We did a good job of flipping the pancakes and the most popular topping was definitely chocolate spread!

We have also started practicing hard for our performance in the World Book Day assembly next Thursday and it’s coming along great so far!

“Happy Birthday Joe!” (titled by Joe!)

14th February 2020Rachael Budden

Despite the rubbish weather, we have had an amazingly busy and fun week this week which has been full of lots of laughs!  We have explored Ancient Egypt, had our final horse riding session and have done lots of role play using money.  We also visited Denton Burn Library to take out lots of brilliant stories in preparation for World Book Month on 27th February-we can’t wait!

A big happy birthday goes to Joe who is now 11!

A huge well done also goes to Leon for achieving our certificate this week in assembly- Leon has been drawing people for the first ever time and we are so impressed!

Have a lovely half term!

All aboard!

5th February 2020Rachael Budden

On Monday, we had LOTS of fun discovering our new Stagecoach bus!  As part of our Maths lesson, we used the bus to role play bus drivers and count out our bus fares. We think we may now even have a few potential bus drivers among us!

17th January 2020Rachael Budden

Our new favourite time of the week is Thursday afternoon when we go horse riding!  Our first two sessions at the Pegasus Centre have been brilliant.  We can’t believe how confident the children are on the horses- they even started trotting yesterday!  Just look at them go…

Merry Christmas and see you in the new year! (titled by Joe)

20th December 2019Rachael Budden

We have had one last final week of Christmas fun together in 6b!  We have had a number of visits from Santa (with presents!), Christmas dinner, our Christmas party and we’ve finished off our Christmas cooking and craft. Phew!  I think we are in need of a holiday!  Have a wonderful Christmas and new year and we will see you back on January 7th 2020.

More festive fun!

13th December 2019Rachael Budden

We have had a fun filled creative week this week practicing for our Christmas performance!  We are all super proud of 6b for their brilliant performance this morning in our own version of The Snowman.  We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!  Our Christmas trip to Northern Stage to see Wolf! was also amazing.  The interactive performance and set design made us feel like we were in the play ourselves and the play as a whole was so entertaining and magical.  We then had pizza from La Famiglia which topped off a great day!

See you all on Monday for our final week!

Festive Fun in 6b

6th December 2019Rachael Budden

Our highlight of the week this week was definitely going to see Frozen 2 at the cinema!  Everyone really enjoyed the film and the children’s behaviour was impeccable from start to finish.  Well done 6b!

Aayan, Abbie, Callum and Ruby all have dashing new hair doos from the Hadrian Happy Hair Shop today-the award definitely goes to Aayan for best transformation!  Ruby’s sparkly pink nails are just fabulous too!

We hope that you are able to attend our Coffee and Carols afternoon on Monday 9th December at 1.30pm.  Both 6b and class 3/4 have been practicing very hard and their singing is sounding amazing!

“Toon” (titled by Callum!)

29th November 2019Rachael Budden

Christmas is certainly round the corner and don’t 6b know it! We had a great Life Skills trip to town on Monday where we got to check out the Christmas Market and Fenwick’s Window before having a snack in the Grainger Market.  We can’t wait to put up our Christmas Tree this afternoon all ready for our Advent assembly on Monday.

Julia Jarman

22nd November 2019Rachael Budden

We were immensely lucky this week to welcome Julia Jarman into school as part of the Northern Children’s Book Festival.  Julia is the author of stories such as Big Red Bath, Fussy Freda, Class Two at the Zoo among many more.  Julia’s storytelling of some of her books was so creative and engaging and the children were so excited to interview her during the sessions!  Julia even did a book signing session, where she individually met some children and write a personalised message in their copy of Fussy Freda and the Time Travelling Cat.  Julia now has lots of new fans in Hadrian School and we can’t wait to explore some of her other stories.  We hope to be able to welcome Julia back again to Hadrian one day-she is just fantastic!

Children in Need 2019

15th November 2019Rachael Budden

We have had a brilliant week getting involved with Children in Need 2019!  We have participated in lots of Children in Need activities including baking spotty biscuits, designing our own duck mascot and lots of Pudsey colouring and fine motor skills work.  We can’t wait for our assembly this afternoon and the Quackers Run in the sports hall later today.  6b all look fab today wearing Pudsey clothes, pyjamas and non uniform!

We hope you all enjoy watching Pudsey on TV tonight!
