Well the sun was shining for our class trip to Blyth beach and what a fabulous day we all had. When we arrived we sat on the balcony of our beach huts to have a nice snack and drink of juice before we headed off to play in the park. In the park we played on the pirate ship, climbing up and sliding down. We spun on the spinner, went up and down on the swing and climbed high on the ropes. After all that we were really hungry so headed back to the beach huts for our packed lunch and a few chips! Next it was time to play on the beach, we took our buckets and spades, took off our shoes and got down to building our sandcastles. There was just enough time to have a tub of ice cream before heading back to school.
What wonderful fun we are having during our topic of the seaside. We used lots of different materials and media to make a big ‘Under the Sea’ display as well as making a pirate ship and discovering a buried treasure chest. We were also very lucky to be given a picnic bench that is also a sand pit from our friends at Newcastle Building Society so we can now dig in the sand for real treasure!!
What a wonderful afternoon we had when The Cheeky Charlies Jazz/Swing/Singalong came into school. They had lots of different instruments to play to us and sang lots of different songs for us so we were able to have a dance as well as a singalong. They were really good and we’re hoping they will come back to see us again soon.
Well the weather wasn’t going to stop us going out on Wednesday. We put on our coats, made sure our hoods were up and set off out for a walk. We did really well and most of us managed to walk all the way up to the café at Westgate Community College. We pulled some tables together so we had a big space and enjoyed a treat of crisps, biscuits and yoghurts for our snack – after all the adults had said we have worked so hard, not just this week but all year round!!. What a lovely morning we had.
We had a wonderful time helping Zack celebrate his 4th birthday by having a party. We played ‘pass the parcel’, danced with balloons and shared some delicious food and cake.
What great fun we have had during our Science Week. We’ve seen some amazing experiments, made sticky slime of all different colours, splashed about at the water wall and aqua flow, played in the sand and explored the star lab as well as the light and dark room.
Well the weather wasn’t looking good for our trip to Saltwell Park to have a teddy bears picnic, however we did still have a fantastic day as we went to the Tim Lamb Centre instead. We had great fun exploring their Soft Play, climbing up to the top and sliding all the way back down. We also enjoyed all the lights and the water bed in the Sensory Room as well as jumping around in the trampoline hall. We we’re all very happy but so tired that some of us even fell asleep on the bus on the way back to school.
This half term our topic is the Teddy Bears Picnic, so in preparation for our picnic next week at Saltwell park we’ve been busy using lots of different materials to design our own teddy bear pictures. We have also been baking teddy bear biscuits, some of us making Daddy, some Mummy and others Baby bear, just like in our story ‘PEACE AT LAST’.
Well, how could we not make the most of the wonderful sunshine. We made sure we had plenty of sun cream on and headed outside for our play. We had a lovely treat and went into the internal quad where we played on the big slide, went back and forth in the basket swing, went up and down on the see-saw, spun around on the spinner and dug in the sand. We had great fun and are looking forward to more visits to the quad, especially in the sun.
After a visit to McDonald’s last week we decided to make our own café in class. The children have been taking it in turns to either be a staff member taking orders or a customer paying for their food. What great fun they have all had.
