Our second session with TimbaDash focused on the theme of water! Take a look at some photos below and check out our behind the scenes video here!
Thursday 9th September saw the first multi-sensory drama workshop with our partners, TimbaDash. This ‘party’ themed session is the first of many, building towards a collaborative drama performance later in the Autumn term. The children in John’s class absolutely loved interacting with the performers as well as the balloons, lights and confetti (and food!)
You can take a look at some of the photos below and you can watch our behind the scenes video here!
We’re really looking forward to the next session, focusing on ‘water’ and can’t wait to see how the project develops!

In Science we are learning about what plants need to grow. So this week we decided we would do an experiment to see what works best to help Cress seeds grow. First of all the children got their lab coats on, real scientists need to look the part!
Then the children planted the cress seeds in to the soil in individual pots. They then added four different liquids; 1. Water 2. Milk 3. Coke and 4. Washing up liquid. The children each made their own predictions as to which liquid they thought would help the cress grow the best.
We will be keeping a close eye on these cress seeds in the next few weeks to see whose predictions were right!
Class 3/4 Team
Last week in Class 1a the children were very busy AFTER ‘THE’ morning which made everything crazy – The morning that there was snow!
A very hectic start to the week last week on Monday because IT SNOWED! Buses were late, staff held up and people stranded at home! After they eventually got into school on ‘THE morning that there was snow’ the children were very eager to start learning on their new topic in PSHCEe ‘People in School’. They turned Super Sleuths and went around school in groups armed with an iPad and took selfies of their groups with specific people they had to find prompted by photographs. They also turned Explorers later in the week in Science when they went out to explore the outdoor area with Binoculars and Magnifying glasses, explored magnets and different lights in the classroom. In Art they are working on their Picasso inspired collage and this week they have been collaging a real guitar inspired by Picasso’s Guitar paintings. They are working really hard on their cutting, tearing and gluing skills. In English they have been mark making and drawing lines using pencils and markers attached to toy vehicles. In Maths the children have been getting familiar with Numicon and started some learning on Shape.
It was of course Pancake Tuesday last week and the children made and flipped their own pancakes and learned a new pancake song!
This week I have included some pictures of our dinnertime as we are so proud of the way some of our children in 1a are improving their eating skills and eating their dinner alllllllll up!
This week we have World Book Day on Thursday this week so check back soon for an update on that!
Have a lovely week!
This year’s science fair will take place on the 19th July and will include volcanoes and flux capacitors.
