All Kinds of Everything!

19th June 2021June Ball

What a great week we’ve had getting involved in lots of different activities including plenty of outdoor learning opportunities.

We had a super day in the Yurt on Monday. Sue expertly showed us how to make a fire.( not a firelighter in sight!) After she’d built a roaring fire we made scrambled eggs on top of the wood burner which we ate with toast. Delicious!

After our snack we made lots of footprints in the paint with wellies. We needed these for our special treasure hunt in the afternoon. As well as it being great fun, it was also part of our work on “Measures” in Maths.

In the afternoon we used the footprints to lead us to treasure! We hope the dads/special people/heros in our children’s lives enjoyed the beautiful rocks we sent home.

We continue to learn about plants. The children are becoming familiar with what plants need to survive. One group worked on the plant labels and another group learnt more about the Brussel sprouts that we planted. They are growing so well but unfortunately something is eating them! We tried to guess what it might be including squirrels, slugs, snails but we think it might be caterpillars.

We’ve been celebrating lots of Birthdays this month which we’ve put on Class Dojo for you to enjoy. We also celebrated Leni’s Half Term Achiever on Friday. Very well done Leni. We are all so proud of you.

Babs, June and the Team.

Weekly news!

18th June 2021Elaine Quinn

We have been practicing for weeks to take part in Newcastle Virtual Dance Festival!

The children have worked so hard rehearsing their moves and loved every minute of dressing up in the dancewear we borrowed from our Bev at reception.

We had a wonderful morning in the sports hall watching all the different schools who participated in the dance festival performing their dance routines. We got cosy on the beanbags with the lights off and watched it on the big screens, and to make it the total theatre experience we had a few snack break intervals with our favourite treats popcorn, bombay mix, sweets and crisps.

They all looked amazing on the big screen and we are all so proud of them.

Hope you all managed to watch the video, here is the link for anyone who missed it.

Mr Rollings managed to join us for our dance performance and was so impressed he gave us all a Hadrian school medal to go with our certificate.

It is our half term achiever assembly next Friday, so remember to check Dojo for log on details.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Wet and wild week in class

18th June 2021Loveday Fisk

Happy Friday friends.

Here is a snap shot of some of the things we have been up to in class this week.

On Thursday we split the class group into 2.  Some of us enjoyed an afternoon outdoor water play and some enjoyed exploration and parachute play.  This worked so well.  Our exploration encouraged lots of communication, lots of peer interaction and lots of fun.  Here are some photo’s of our outdoor sessions this week.

During Sensory Art this half term we are exploring paint.  We will use a range of techniques to encourage all children to explore using their hands.  This week we began with balls and string.  Our first paint session was spent making special cards for a special day this weekend.  No spoilers.  Cards will be sent home today!! Hope all of our Dad’s and special people in our lives have a lovely day on Sunday. Here are some pics of the process.

Congratulations to our Jacob for being our class half term achiever.  Jacob was chosen this half term for his progress in all areas of learning.  He is now able to read 19 sight words.  He is using his big voice in class lots more and also improving his physical skills.  Jacob walks further than ever…….now walking to the school bus and back without a buggy.  He loves to move like different animals during Jabadao and Rebound Therapy.   He crawls and climbs with much greater strength and determination.  During this morning’s assembly, Jacob was presented with his certificate.  Mr Rollings was clearly as proud of Jacob after watching his journey as we are.    All half term achiever videos will be on the school website……………………… Watch out for Jacob’s to be uploaded soon.  Well done Jacob.

Physical Fun and “Disco Splash”

15th June 2021Coralie Forbes

Hi Everyone

Last week we took advantage of some of the lovely sunny weather to practise our physical skills outdoors and have some fun in the cars, on the rocking horse and the mini trampoline. The children also spent time in their standers to support their core strength and stamina and we practised using our hands to feel and touch different objects. We also managed to fit in some lovely stretching and balance work on the large trampolines!

As we were not able to use the pool or the paddling pools as we had hoped we decided to make our own fun with water, crazy soap and lights. We named our new session “Disco Splash” and everyone had lots of fun! Enjoy the photos!

Fun in the Sun!

11th June 2021Tracy Gooderick

This week has been absolutely glorious!!!! The sun definitely had his hat on!

We decided to create our own water park, as we aren’t allowed out on trips just yet. And it was a huge success with the children. Infact everyone in school booked into it for a session!

We had pools and sprays and bubbles! Everything the children asked for. We even had a bouncy castle.

Also this week has been Nelson and Zack’s Birthdays and in Food Technology we made a rainbow cake for them. It looked tasted delicious!

We hope the weather stays nice for your weekend, enjoy!

Weekly news!

28th May 2021Elaine Quinn

For the last few weeks we have been working on a special art project which was Banksy inspired! It has been great messy fun!

The children explored painting using our spray bottles! We tied our art project in with the war topic we have been working on, the children we so interested why and how the children had to evacuate, (why our art shows our class packed with their bags waiting for the train) they were so empathetic for the children having to leave their families during the war, it made everyone realise how lucky we are to be able to go home to our loved ones everyday.

We walked around the caterpillar garden in awe of the art produced by classes across the school! There were some amazing creations!

We have had a very busy week rehearsing our dance for the ‘Dance Festival’ the children looked amazing in their costumes and did a fantastic job, all will be revealed when we return to school. In between our dancing we managed a day in the yurt, where we did story yoga and had a pamper afternoon.

After this busy week it is fair to say everyone is tired now and ready for a weeks break! Hope you all have a wonderful half term.

See you back Monday 7th June.

Weekly news!

We have been planting and learning about the growing process, we can now name the different parts of a plant such as the roots, stem, leaves and flower, we also know to grow plants and seeds they will need warmth, water and sunlight. Under a microscope we examined all these parts closely.

We have also planted our own runner bean which we are excited to watch grow. We have put them in a warm sunny place as we now know that what is needed to grow..

We all now know our story this term “The Giant Jam Sandwich” so well, so in our English lesson we had a class quiz and amazed the adults with our knowledge.

We made a giant jam sandwich (not as big as the one in the story) in our food technology lesson, the best part was eating it at snack time. Fair to say we are now jam sandwich experts so we decided to share our skills and make a cooking show video inspired by our book! We had some very confident instructors hope you enjoy our video.

Sending best wishes to all our families celebrating Eid this week!

Manhoor came in with her family all looking beautiful and very kindly brought a chocolate cake for her friends to share. It was delicious thankyou.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 5 Tracy

14th May 2021Tracy Gooderick

This week in our class we have completed our sculpture for the upcoming Art Exhibition in the Caterpillar Garden. The children have been working on using old ties to make a beautiful mosaic flower. You can even put your head in it and get your photo taken like the ones at the funfair!

We also had a very special delivery this week of Caterpillars! The children are going to look after the Caterpillars and in 3-5 weeks we are hoping they will turn into beautiful butterflies! We check how much they have grown daily and make sure to put them to bed at night. The children were so excited and very happy to have our new visitors. We can’t wait to see what they become and how they get to be butterflies!

The children have also been planting on their ‘Growing’ Theme. They have been looking at seeds and planting herbs and vegetables as well as cress. Its been hard work this week looking after all the growing things in our class! Flowers, plants and Caterpillars!

Maths this week was on the theme of flowers, the children were counting petals onto flowers and matching numerals. In English they have been learning about the Days of the week and their story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

It was Well-Being week this week and the children wanted to have a Spa afternoon. They had massages, foot spas and went to the nail bar! It was very relaxing and calm. It is a favourite activity in our class and everyone LOVES getting their nails done!

This week it was Sophia’s Birthday! Happy Birthday Sophia!
