Weekly news!

5th February 2021Elaine Quinn

Children’s Mental Health Week is this week 1-7 February 2021.

This year’s theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. You will find some nice ideas and activities all free on the link below.

https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/parents-and-carers/

We have celebrated this with doing lots of mindful activities, learning how too do breathing exercises,  relaxing spa day, then dress to express yourself day on Friday!

Our spa day was a definite favorite and the children have voted to make this a regular treat!

We had a competition with our friends at home to find different colour objects and it was a race back to the screen to see who was the fastest.  When our zoom was finished we carried on with the colour matching of the objects we found and created this beautiful rainbow.

We all really love our morning catch up with our friends who are home schooling at the minute and cannot wait to be all together again.

We came dressed in all our bright printed clothing on Friday and had a day of games and dancing, smiles and laughter all day.

Have a wonderful weekend, stay safe.

Messy play

5th February 2021Sharon Dodd

What great fun we had making lots of mess with our jungle animals. They plodded through chocolate and strawberry angel delight, crunched through cereal and pasta, splashed in jelly and got stuck in the gloop. We may have made a bit of a mess on the floor at the same time!

Winter Fun

15th January 2021Loveday Fisk

This week we tried a new session in class.  We continued the theme of exploration using scarves, material and pom poms.  Using a range of music tempo’s we enjoyed some intensive interaction with children and followed their interests. Using our observations of each child we also worked on individual communication targets and core vocabulary.

The great thing about this session is we had so much fun.

We had lots of outdoor fun again this week.  We wanted to explore colour using the snow as a blank canvas.  Armed with coloured spray, we made snowmen and all took turns to spray him different colours.  Children explored in their own way.  Some children sprayed, some poured and some enjoyed rolling in the snow.  Basheer decided to lay down and experience tasting the snow flakes as they fell!! A great time was had by all!!

Friday afternoon finished our winter exploration off perfectly in the school Yurt.  Children enjoyed choosing music, having cuddles from staff by the idyllic setting of the fire.  Looking out on to the cold snowy outdoors was perfect.  We shared snacks in there too.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.  Stay safe and take care.

Hope you have all managed to get out and have fun in the snow.

We have made the most of the snow in school, we made snowmen, had a snowball throwing competition and we did some painting in the snow!

We have shared some ideas for you to try at home on Class Dojo.

We have been working hard on a our numeracy skills in class this week. This is something you can all do at home too, just write the number then find the same amount of objects which could be pretty much anything spoons, potatoes or your favorite toys.

We are missing our friends who are at home but looking forward to doing some zoom activities this week.

Well done to Mahnoor getting the class certificate this week!

She has really impressed us with her consistent use of her vocabulary board and signing to say ‘more and stop’. She has also worked so hard on her exercise regime bouncing independently every morning.

Great work Mahnoor!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe.

Christmas Is A Time………

19th December 2020June Ball

To do lots of lovely things. This week has been another busy week. On Monday we enjoyed our Christmas Party with our friends from Dave’s class. We all went into the Sports Hall and played different games together and also danced together to our favourite Christmas tunes. It was so lovely to see our children helping Dave’s children if they needed help. This is surely what Christmas is about? We then came back to class for a wonderful party tea. Many thanks to our generous families who provided such a wonderful spread. Very delicious.

During the week we continued to work on our cards, calendars, Christmas biscuits and other creative things. We are sure you will  like them and treasure them for years to come.

On Thursday we enjoyed Christmas lunch, this year in our classroom. We missed being altogether but it was really lovely having it in our beautifully decorated room. The table looked fantastic and we had Christmas music and videos on the Smart Board. The food was delicious and so much of it!

To round off the day we all went outside with the whole school with blankets and hot chocolate for our carol concert. This is the first year we have held it outside and we must say, it was so atmospheric being outside in the garden. Maybe this will become the new way to do it. If you go onto the Friends Of Hadrian Face page on our website you will be able to watch a tiny bit of it.  What a wonderful week. We look forward to our last two days next week finishing with our Nativity Assembly on Thursday to which you are all invited.( Zoom details to follow)

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your very thoughtful and generous gifts and of course your continued support in this most difficult of years. We all hope and pray for a much better 2021!

June Babs, Sue, Louise, Alyson and Ann.

Dear Parents/Carers

Christmas has well and truly came to our class this week. We have included a few extra photos to show what fun we have had eating of Christmas dinners and partying on the bus this afternoon. It has been an unusual celebration but the children have took it in their strides. We have all really enjoyed the last few days and hopefully next year we can all celebrate together. Just another quick reminder Tuesday will be the last day of term have a lovely weekend.

Thank you

What a week of festive fun we have had.

It began with Christmas tree theme Monday! We did lots of arts and crafts, singing and even dressed up as Christmas trees which was great fun.

Sorry no pictures just yet as they are all stored for our secret project we are working on.

Then we did a reindeer day which was a favorite, we made special reindeer food, we competed in a reindeer style assault course in PE so we now understand how hard Santa and his reindeers work on Christmas eve delivering gifts to every home all over the world jumping and balancing on the roof, pulling and pushing all those parcels.

Wednesday it was all about snow, we had a amazing sensory snow experience in the music studio and even had a snowball fight. We made snowmen biscuits, and a few other secret gifts.

We all had Christmas lunch together in the classroom which was fabulous. We then headed outside for a socially distanced whole school carol singing afternoon, the atmosphere was amazing and we all got snuggled with a blanket and drank hot chocolate.

The fun is set to continue into next week with our party Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend look forward to seeing you next week.

We love Christmas! What better way is there to do numeracy than our own Christmas Fayre games.

We played hook the duck, bought raffle tickets! This was so much fun whilst helping us with our number recognition, coin recognition and counting skills.

We are still adding up points in our PE sessions with our games and hoping to win some medals for Hadrian. This week we were bowling, a favourite of ours!

Hope you all enjoyed our whole school video of one of our favourite Christmas songs in Hadrian ‘Christmas is a time’

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
