Happy Halloween!

25th October 2019Loveday Fisk

The last week of our first half term back has been so exciting – we have enjoyed lots of fun activities.  Some of us enjoyed our community engagement trip out to Northumberland Park  on Wednesday and others enjoyed intensive interaction in sensory circuits. The highlight of our week has to be our Halloween exploration party! There were lots of spooky things going on.  We had pumpkin heads with slimy insides oozing out, wiggly worms made from spaghetti and fake blood made from red paint and water… we could enjoy messy play with all these gory activities to get our hands and feet into.

Kimberly really enjoyed painting the adults faces, and Aaron enjoyed giving himself a Halloween face paint look! Conlan had fun singing creepy spider songs and playing with our toy spiders and webs, while Jordan found it exciting to drum to the beat of our haunting Halloween background music. All in all it was a “specdracular” fun time for us all!

Thank you all for such a successful first half term and for all your support.  Have a great and safe half term.  See you soon, Loveday and Team xxx

What a Spooktacular party.

25th October 2019Phil Cookson

Here are some photos from our fantastic Halloween party.

The children had an amazing time; they loved getting dressed up and dancing with their friends from Ellen’s class and Rachael’s class. Lots of fun, smiling and laughter took place. Thank you to everyone who was able to send in some party food, this was greatly appreciated by the staff and greatly received by the children!

We wish you all a very spooky Halloween.

Class 3/4 Team.

Autumn Fun!

24th October 2019Elaine Quinn

Fun with leaves!

This week we have taken the opportunity to explore the lovely Autumn leaves which have been falling off the trees. Some of the children went into the Wildlife Garden to gather leaves to bring into the class for us all to explore. Everyone enjoyed exploring the different colours and textures and hearing the sound of the crunchy ones!

I’ve got the most!

Choosing my favourite! Hard work

So many colours, textures and smells

Exploring textures

I loved collecting leaves!

Farewell afternoon tea

Staff and children are going to miss you Ali

On a sad note we said goodbye to Alison one of the staff team who has left us to take up a new post. She has been in our Early Years team for many years and was a much loved and very gifted member of staff. We shall all miss her hugely but wish her all the best in her new job.

Fun outdoors

1st October 2019Phil Cookson

Another busy week in class 3/4. The children have enjoyed getting messy and using their exploration skills in a range of activities, indoors and outdoors!

In Science we have started learning about hard and soft. What better way to explore materials than to make slime? The class had great fun watching the textures of the materials change and mixing the ingredients together. Once the slime was made we had lots of fun exploring and making different shapes with the slime.

In Numeracy we went on a treasure hunt around school, the children needed to use their counting skills to find the next clues; this led us to find some yummy treats for everyone to share at the end of the hunt. In literacy we have continued with the story Stick Man and we been practising some fantastic mark making and retelling parts of the story.

It has been great weather to get wrapped up in our waterproofs and head outdoors to explore lots of puddles and the mud kitchen. The children enjoyed using their imagination and getting extremely wet and messy. Expect your children to have a lot more of this over the coming weeks.

Trip to Newcastle Quayside.

1st October 2019Phil Cookson

Continuing with our topic ‘landmarks in and around where we live’, we managed to get out of school for another trip last Tuesday. This time we headed out for a morning down to the Quayside. There are so many fantastic landmarks around the Quayside to look at and enjoy!

We started our adventure at the Sage and stopped off for a drink and snack inside before we walked down lots and lots and lots of steps to make our way to the Millennium Bridge. We had a lovely walk across the bridge and were able to look right along the river to see all of the buildings and bridges crossing the River Tyne. We then made our way to the Baltic and went straight to the top floor in the lift to have a look at the stunning views. The children were very brave as they looked out of the window from so high up and were able to spot the Millennium Bridge, the Sage and the Tyne Bridge.

Class 3/4 had a fantastic time out of school and were excellently behaved.

The Right Photos!

30th September 2019June Ball

Due to technical difficulties,  the blog was doing funny things on Friday and the wrong photos went onto the “Let’s Explore” Blog.

Let’s Go Explore!

27th September 2019June Ball

What a creative bunch we are and with that in mind we are developing a Creative Space where the children can go independently to explore and discover a wide range of material and develop their own ideas. What is also wonderful is to see the children collecting a range of natural materials outside to bring into the space. Already some of the children are busy making different things and inspiring others to do the same. The children are also getting to know that they can go back and continue with their creations over time.

Sensory story

19th September 2019Ellen Jankowski

First of all sorry for the delay in our class blog! There have been a few technical issues which have now been sorted! Yey!

The children continue to grow in confidence in their new classroom and are really starting to show us what they can really do! We are learning all about where we live this term and this half  term we are focusing on our homes. In our literacy lessons, we have enjoyed a sensory story of ‘Peace at Last’. Ray has been a great ‘Mr Bear’ and the children all love waking him up with different things!! We have also been learning the signs for different rooms – see if your child can remember these at home.

**On Monday we will be taking our first trip out to Ikea. We will be looking at the different rooms to see if we can guess where they would go in a house – and of course we’ll have a little trip to the café! We would like to ask for a contribution of £1 to cover the price of a snack and a drink.**

Hadrian Hair shop

12th September 2019Elaine Quinn

The next hair shop will be held on Friday 11th October in school!

This has proved to be a great day and the progress some of our children have made overcoming their fears around hair cuts has been fantastic.

We have raised over £500 which has helped us buy new equipment for the hair shop, as well as some much needed resources around school.

Consent letters will be coming out the week before, so watch out for these!
