Oops. Something went a bit wrong with that last Blog. Somehow two posts got mixed up & became one! Also some photographs got left behind. We will try & fix this as soon as we can.

In Numeracy this half term we are learning all about money, the different coins and their values. We have been exploring the different coins and learning a simple song to help us to remember them. On Wednesday we set up a several shops in class including a toy shop, a stationery shop and a fruit and vegetable store where we could practise using money to buy a range of products. We took turns to be the customers and the shopkeepers and used our different coins to buy the goods. The children were totally engaged throughout the activity and are developing their knowledge of money.

As you know we have been working on our sculptures over the past few weeks. This week we used gold, silver and copper metallic paint to paint them to make them look like they had been constructed out of different types of metal. Next week will be the final stage where we will add different interesting materials to them. What has been wonderful to see, is how some of the children in child led learning time have selected their own materials and made their own structures independently.
We are also continuing to learn about the Romans. This week we began to learn about Roman soldiers, the clothes they wore and the armour and weapons they used. We made our own swords and next week we will design and make our own shields. We are really looking forward to going to Vindolanda on Tuesday to find out more.

We have had a fantastic week, and are now feeling ready for a little holiday! We enjoyed making your Valentine’s cards to show you that we love you very much, and we made sweetheart buns as a little treat.
We are learning all about our bodies at the moment and worked hard this week to make funny faces on the computer. We had to choose face colour, eyes, ears, hair and mouths. We had to use our fine motor and IT skills to click and drag the shapes across the page.
Some of our children enjoyed a visit to Hadrian’s Hair Shop this week. We hope you like everyone’s new haircuts.
Lots of us enjoy using the SI room each week and learn lots of useful skills here, such as lifting ourselves onto the swings and climbing the stairs to whizz down the slide. It’s a lot of fun!
We hope you have a happy and safe half term, and enjoy the Spring sunshine. Please don’t forget to vote for a new governor. Also, please send spare clothes and swim nappies (if your child uses one) at the start of term.
Thanks,
Hannah and team!
On Monday we visited Segedunum in Wallsend as part of our Romans project. There were great views of the fort from the viewing tower. We could see where the headquarters, the hospital, the granary and other buildings had been. We drew our own plans of the fort.
In the Roman Gallery we dressed up as Emperors, soldiers and servants. The clothes were not at all comfortable, some of them were very rough and hairy.
In the Activities Room we put on our hard hats to design and construct our own Hadrian’s Wall. We had some excellent ideas, in fact our ideas were probably better than the Romans!
Last Friday we celebrated our second birthday of the week. Lydia was nine years old on Saturday so we had a party in school. We played pass the parcel, musical statues and musical spots. We then enjoyed a wonderful party tea with a delicious caterpillar cake.
Happy Birthday Lydia.

What a busy week we’ve had again. We continue to work on our wonderful sculptures in Art. This week we used papier mache to strengthen our structures ready to add different interesting materials next week.
It was the start of Chinese New Year celebrations on Wednesday and we began the celebrations with a very interactive assembly. We began to find out about Chinese New Year and enjoyed a class quiz which we will revisit later to see how much we have learnt. Some children made lanterns, some decorated dragon masks and some children practised Chinese writing! We will make Chinese food next week in food technology and get involved in some dragon dancing.
We also celebrated two birthdays this week. More photographs to come next week as we’re having a party this afternoon for Lydia’s 9th birthday.
And finally, we have created a new story area which Nathan has fully embraced, presenting his story telling to the class. Wonderful!
Have a good weekend.

We have had a really busy week at school, working hard and playing hard, too!  This week we have been practising our mark-making and learning how to write our names. We love using Penpals on the Smartboard to form our letters!
On Tuesday we enjoyed an assembly which was all about Chinese New Year. We dressed up, tried some noodles and watched a street parade in China Town on the screen.
In our food technology lesson, we made stir-fried vegetables and rice with soya sauce. It was delicious! We had to use our fine motor skills to chop the vegetables. It was quite tricky but we managed it!
We acted out the story of Chinese New Year, and had a great time pretending to be different animals by wearing the masks.
We are offering Party Bookings for our Rebound Therapy Centre. The offer includes the use of the Rebound Therapy Centre, Sports Hall, Dance Studio and Kitchen. We can also supply trained rebound therapy staff at an additional cost if required.
What do I get for my money?
We would generally recommend at least 2 members of staff especially if you are using all 5 trampolines.
The costs of the booking would be as follows:
£65.00 per hour for the use of all the facilities (a minimum booking of 2 hours) – this includes 1 member of staff
Additional members of trained Rebound Therapy Staff would cost an additional £15.00 per hour.
Most parties are typically 2 hours and have 2 members of staff so an example cost would be for a 2 hour party:
£65.00 per hour = £130.00 – for 2 hours
£30.00 for an additional member of staff for 2 hours
Total £160.00
All bookings are covered by our Public Liability and Hire’s Liability Insurance for your peace of mind and our staff are first aid trained and will deal with any accidents/incidents.
We are happy to facilitate parties in holidays and on weekends. Note: on a Saturday there is only availability after 1.30pm.
We have a date for Wednesday 13th February for our Pop up Hair Shop. We can only offer dry cuts and we have qualified hairdressing staff who work in school who will be cutting hair.
We will also be offering our manicure and pedicure service. This includes a foot spa and option for nails painted, which was a big hit with the children at the last pop up shop.
We are asking for a £3.00 donation and all funds will be donated to school.
