We are proud to be supporting The Chronicle Sunshine Fund with their fundraising event this June.
The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a local charity that funds specialist equipment for babies, children and young people living with disabilities and additional needs in the North East. They have supplied equipment for a number of children in the school, as well as bringing their Santa Bus with Stagecoach each Christmas.
The Sunshine Mile is a brand new initiative as part of the charity’s annual Sunshine Run 5k, which will take place on Wednesday 17th June 2026, along Newcastle Quayside. The mile-long circular route is accessible, interactive and educational, and is designed for school and nursery groups.
The route starts at Pitcher & Piano and goes down Newcastle’s iconic Quayside, over the Swing Bridge, along the Gateshead side and back over the Millennium Bridge.
The route will be self-guided with volunteers along the way, and the charity will provide a map and worksheets for young learners to complete. All participants will receive a certificate and goodie bag upon completion of The Sunshine Mile.
Entry is free, however each child is encouraged to raise at least £5, which will go directly to The Sunshine Fund, and will help support their mission to create brighter futures for children living with complex needs in the region.
Big news🎉
