Local Authority Governor

Hazel has been a loyal servant to the City of Newcastle for many years and is very much a proud Geordie and a fantastic ambassador for our City. Hazel had the honour of serving as Lord Mayor and was very supportive to Hadrian School in this role.

Hazel has served as a local city councillor for over 20 years.  Hazel as a wealth of experience previously working as a careers advisor for 29 years and she very much enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities. As a Cabinet member she previously held two large portfolio’s covering Resources  and Corporate Services and Environmental Services . Hazel currently sits on the Constitutional Committee and chairs the Planning Committee. Hazel also represents the City of Newcastle on the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Authority.

Hazel has also been a member of a number of school Governing Bodies over the past 30 years and we are delighted to have her experience, expertise and connections as a Governor on the Hadrian Governing Body.

Hazel is a real people person and alongside her husband and family is very involved in her local community supporting many groups and activities. Hazel has a great interest in Hadrian School and always advocates on our behalf whenever and wherever she can.
