Hi everyone!
Although it is nearly the start of another half term at Hadrian in Class 1a I have just got up and running on our new class blog and can now finally share what the children have been up to.
As their new class teacher I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the children in the class and they have all got fantastic little personalities. I look forward to teaching them for the rest of the school year.
It’s hard to fit everything they have been learning into one Blog but over the last half term they have been working on the theme of ‘Monsters’ linked to the introduction of their new class reward and parent/teacher correspondence system. They have been learning the story ‘The Love Monster’ in English where they have been working on friendships, accepting eachother and themselves as well as differences and lots of fantastic cookery skills based around monster cakes! The Love Monster books also touch on ‘sharing’ another of our school rules, so they have been trying hard to work on that as well. In phonics they have covered letter sounds S,A and T. They have been outdoors looking for Monsters and making rock monsters. In Art they have made their own collage Love Monsters and in Music they have learned some new monster songs! They continued with a Van Gogh display they had started by adding some melted grated crayon pieces to it and some foil painting. In the afternoons they get messy and have had some Chinese New Year themed messy play with red Chinese spiced dough, noodles and rice. The children have been doing shop role play in Maths and sorting colours (red and yellow) based on Chinese New Year. They came full circle and ended the half term celebrating Valentine’s Day and ending with ‘The Love Monster’. I’m sure there is lots I have forgotten as it has been a very busy half term, but a very productive one! I would never be able to upload all the photos so here are a few of Class 1a’s lovely children.
We are looking forward to another exciting half term of learning!
