On Monday we were lucky to be invited up to Val and Reg’s beautiful home in the village of Craster. We were met by Val and Reg who prepared a snack for us on arrival. We then all went to the local park with the most wonderful views over the Northumbrian coast. The children clearly enjoyed the physical challenge that the park provided. We also had a quick visit to the Art Gallery where there was different types of art on display including paintings by a local artist, jewellery, pottery and glass pieces.
We then went back to Val and Reg’s house for lunch. We had brought our own packed lunches but Val also provided delicious pizzas. The children really tucked in with some children saying it was the best part of the day!
After lunch we went out again to visit the harbour. We were lucky to catch a fishing boat coming in with crabs and lobsters on board. A friendly fisherman got one of each out for us to look at. We noticed the lobsters had bands on their pincers to prevent nasty nips! We then walked a little way along the coastal path towards Dunstanburgh Castle.
What a wonderful day. It was so peaceful we could have stayed so much longer. We even joked we could have all stayed over night! Many thanks to Val and Reg for sharing their home with us.
