This week we have had such fun participating in sports week, the sunshine even made an appearance! We are extremely proud as all the children have worked extremely hard at every activity and showed great sportsmanship.

We have participated in so many different activities this week. We started with week with mini golf, a firm favourite in our class! After all that excitement we finished off the morning with some relaxing yoga, then straight back to activities with football on the afternoon. We have some competitive children in our class that always comes out in a game of football!

Tuesday was full of activities. The day began with cricket where everyone took turns being the bowler and batter. We had some very enthusiastic children with great techniques! Following on from cricket, the children took part in orienteering with Alfie! Throughout the trail, the children participated in challenges to find Alfie’s favourite toys (with posters of Alfie modelling said toys!), including throwing his favourite ball, balancing tennis balls on rackets and even a dance to finish. As always, we spent out Tuesday afternoon swimming. Free sessions in the pool are always fun with the children showing off their skills.

Thursday, the last full day of sports week, was absolutely jam packed! We began the day with a boxing session. Our class love boxing and had been looking forward to this all week! Following a fun warm up, children were showed combinations, including punches, hooks, and uppercuts. They were so enthusiastic, one pupil was invited to stand at the front and lead an activity. The children then had the chance to demonstrate their moves on the pads. Following on from boxing, the children then rushed off to our next activity, dodgeball. The children practiced skills and got into teams for a game. The children’s competitive sides really came out, scoring extra points with the ‘powerballs’. We finished off the session with a game of foxes and chickens, with the chickens trying their best to get to the other side without them pesky foxes catching them out. After lunch we had a karate session. Using what we had already learnt in boxing from the morning, children got the chance to show off their punches, kicks and karate chops on the pads while learning the rules of the sport. As you can imagine, the children were absolutely exhausted following such a busy day of activities, so everyone got to enjoy an ice pop for snack.
