We’ve had a great week in class (as well as outside the classroom thanks to the beautiful weather) this week. We started our week learning the features of an invitation. We are going to pair this with our posters, creating invitations for our Hadrian Carnival! We also began our new maths topic, money. We started with identifying money from 1p to £2. Once we could correctly identify the coins, we moved onto our very own tuck shop. The children were asked to identify the correct coins needed to ‘buy’ their juice and snack at snack time. We plan to make our tuck shop a more regular occurrence as the children found the activity fun and engaging, while showing us their ability to identify coins correctly.
Along with our posters and invitations, we spend our art lessons this week creating beautiful decorations for our Hadrian Carnival. We created tie dye art, decorative flowers and floral headbands. On the build up to the carnival we have so many great art projects to create, be prepared for a lot bright colours and feathers! We also had our second session with Jenny on the steel pan drums. We mastered two songs which we will be performing at our carnival.
Having a break from carnival preparations, we spent our next art lesson creating Father’s Day cards. The class took great pride in creating our cards! We finished the day with a PE lesson with Ellen’s class. We split into smaller groups and created a Samba dance with our own unique moves.
Today has been another beautiful day. We began the day celebrating the achievements of some incredible children within the school in our first of three half term achievers assemblies, followed by an extra-long playtime in the sunshine. We had a great choice time this afternoon followed by ice pops in the sunshine to finish the day.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
