Welcome to Class 1 Its been a busy few weeks getting to know new friends and new staff. Here are some photos to show you some of the activities we’ve been getting up to.
During outdoor learning this week, we enjoyed our sensory drama “A Sparkly Day” all about the weather.
Here are a few photographs to give you a glimpse of how we used our senses to explore the activity.
We are really enjoying our new story. Jasper the cat and his best friend bird decide to plant a tiny bean. The best bit is that we all have an important part to play e.g watering, raking, and planting. We couldn’t believe our eyes when the tiny bean grew, grew and GREW into an enormous beanstalk. It inspired us so much we became busy little gardeners ourselves, so we decided to plant our very own sunflower seeds. We have even learnt a new sunflower song to help them grow. Watch this space to see what happens !!!!
What an exciting morning we had, we got such a surprise to see our music studio had been transformed into a hair and beauty salon. As we entered the room we could hear all sorts of different sounds – the snip, snip of scissors, the low hum of hairdryers and bubbling foot spa’s. The best part of all was being told we could just sit back relax and enjoy. The hardest part was choosing a colour to have our nails painted! The perfect way to spend a Tuesday morning!
This week we have been enjoying a wide range of activities; exploring the wildlife garden by looking at the new flowers which are growing and listening to the wildlife around us. Using our bodies to moving in Rebound therapy, Jabadao and in the Hydrotherapy sessions and showing off our brilliant art skills by making our new classroom display board which we hope you will all be able to see very soon.
Sparkly Day
This term we are continuing with our Sensory drama
“Sparkly Day”
This is all about the weather. As we travel through the seasons we explore a range of sensory objects which awaken our senses from sweet smelling flowers, cold ice cubes, warm water bottles to crunchy snowballs. The children are really engaged as each type of weather is represented by a different piece of music . Enjoy our photos and video below.
Continuing our topic all about the jungle we have been exploring and enjoying our new sensory story.
The story begins in the dead of the night: We had to make sure our ears were all turned on as we listened to all of the different night time sounds.
Suddenly the sun came up and we were greeted with the most amazing sight, awakening all of our senses from beautiful Lilly ponds with jumping frogs, multi coloured parrots and birds – to giant elephants and cheeky monkey’s. It was great fun trying to recreate the sound of the jungle into the Microphone and feel/touch the animals, we even got sprayed with water from the elephants!
No rest for us on a Friday afternoon! Off to Soft Play we go! Our session starts with warming up our muscles by doing our passive stretches, this is followed by working on our PLP outcomes e.g. cross/long legged sitting, pushing through our feet to stand, rolling and stretching out our arms and legs. After all our hard work we finish with a cool down, relaxation and play session. Just like a real exercise class!
