This week we have been working super hard across all areas of the curriculum. We have particularly enjoyed art and swimming. On Thursday we had our first horse riding lesson! Some of us were really brave and jumped straight on, but some of us need a little more work getting comfortable sitting on the horse. We will continue horse riding for the rest of the term!
Hello everybody and welcome to class 2.
We have all had a lovely start to the year and have settled in really well. Unfortunately due to a technical hitch we don’t have many pictures from the first 3 days, but we will make sure to post lots of pictures next week to make up for it!
This week we have been super busy! On Wednesday we all worked really hard on sports day. We competed against EYFS/KS1 in running, throwing, sack race, egg and spoon race and a relay race! Everybody participated really well and we had so much fun. The atmosphere was great and we loved cheering on our friends.
On Thursday we had our summer trip to Blyth beach and we were so lucky with the weather. First we had lots of fun playing in the sand, we took buckets, spades, bats, balls and frisbees. After spending the morning on the beach we headed to the café for dinner. Everybody was really sensible in the café and we enjoyed having our fish and chips, there was lots of empty plates! After dinner we went to the park where we all had a run around and had lots of fun climbing and playing on all of the equipment. We ended the day perfectly by sitting on the grass and enjoying an ice cream.
This week we had lots of fun creating bubble prints in art! We mixed together paint and washing up liquid with a splash of water and then used straws to blow down, creating lots of bubbles! Despite lots of practise blowing down the straws, not sucking, a few of us forgot that important rule and ended up with a mouthful of soapy paint! All the hard work was with it and we ended up with some lovely bubble-y pictures!
This week we have been working really hard as always. We met our new class caterpillars which we are going to watch grow (hopefully) into butterflies and created some caterpillar artwork using repeating patterns. In our communication lessons we have been role playing Doctors, we learned and used lots of new signs and words.
On Thursday, Class 4/5 came to show us their art project. It was really interesting to hear all about Giacometti and his sculptures We even got to learn how to make one using tin foil! Thank you very much to Class 4/5.
We have had a lovely first week back after half term. A new friend started in our class, Ameer. All the children have been very good friends to him and he has settled in really well.
On Thursday we had a Skype call with our friend Sibylla who now lives in Australia. Everybody was super excited to see her and it was lovely to have a catch up.
We have all loved science and DT week! We have done lots of really exciting activities including making slime, cool science assemblies, boat making, baking, water play, den building, fire making and learning how to find water in a survival situation.
We are all super tired now after a busy week and are all ready for the weekend!
This week we have had lots of fun as always. On Thursday we had a walk up to Pat’s church to see the ‘knitted Bible’. Everybody was super sensible walking up to the church and enjoyed looking at the different Bible scenes. We had some time to colour in and have a small snack before heading back to school. Thanks to Pat and Doug for a lovely afternoon.
This week we said goodbye to our friend Sibylla, who is moving to Australia to be closer to her family. She will be a huge miss to Hadrian school, but we will be sure to keep in touch. We had a lovely party on Wednesday afternoon to say our goodbyes.
On Tuesday we started our new science topic ‘electricity’. We looked at lots of different electrical items and explored the different ways electricity acted on them. We also worked hard on our new topic, which is ‘the seaside’. We learned some new signs and got to explore sand and water in preparation for trips to the beach!
On Thursday in art we used sand to create some ‘straight line’ artwork. Everybody worked really independently and concentrated really well pouring the sand onto their lines.
Finally, a huge well done to Violet who was awarded our class ‘Half Term Achiever’.
We have had a lovely first week back at school after the Easter holidays and have been busy as always.
We have worked hard on counting in numeracy, developing our letter formation and fine motor skills in literacy and have been spreading jam, butter and chocolate spread on toast to develop our independence skills.
Have a lovely weekend!
